Ruthless Aggression | A WWE Universe

July 2003 | Week 4 | Youngstown, OH
Kane came out with his brother Undertaker by his side. It looks like the understanding the two appeared to have after their match on RAW is WAR was real, and they truly have partnered back up again. Not to be outdone though, Triple H announced when he came out that he too had someone by his side. Out came the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels as that familiar D-Generation X theme started to play. Even Stephanie McMahon was wearing the colours as well. The matchup was fairly even between Kane and HHH. Kane's strikes were stronger, but he was never able to catch The Game with a move powerful enough to put him down for a three count. The same couldn't be said for HHH. With a little assistance from Stephanie and Michaels, he was able to catch Kane off guard with a Pedigree to win the match and land himself a spot in the finals.

Before Benoit could even make his way to the ring, he was clubbed from behind by all 500 pounds of the Big Show. Show continued to beat him up before the match and eventually rolled him into the ring. Benoit was badly hurt, but when the referee asked if he could continue he agreed. Big Show showed no mercy though when the bell rang, continuing his assault on Benoit, and it wasn't long before the Rabid Wolverine was on the receiving end of a Chokeslam and eating a three count. A spot in the finals didn't seem to be enough for the world's largest superstar though, as he decided to chokeslam Benoit through an announce table as well after the match was over. Benoit had to be carried out on a stretcher as a result. We're seeing a different side of Big Show in this tournament, and he's truly showing how much of a threat he can be as a giant monster heel... will Triple H be able to stop him in the final?

The Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz were selected by Vince McMahon to face off in a match to determine who would be the #1 contender for the World Tag Team titles and face Too Cool at King of the Ring. The Dudleyz did a great job early on of keeping Jeff isolated in the corner and slowly wearing him down and keeping Matt out of the matchup, effectively making it a handicap match. However, Jeff was eventually able to escape and that's when the tide turned. Matt came in with tons of energy and managed to down Bubba with a Side Effect. He then tagged Jeff back in for the Extreme Combination, culminating in a Swanton Bomb from Matt who covered Bubba while Jeff prevented D-Von from breaking up the pin.

A challenger for Rob Van Dam's Hardcore Championship was also needed, and Vince saw this as a great way to introduce some old faces who were now new members of the hardcore division. With four guys in the ring and weapons allowed, this was complete chaos, and each one of them was bust open by the end of it. Late on in the matchup, R-Truth hit Rhyno with the Lie Detector and looked to have it won, but Cena rolled into the ring and hit a dirty Low Blow on Truth to take him out. Cena then went to turn his attention to Rhyno to grab the win, but as he did, was one the receiving end of Rhyno running full speed at him for the Gore Spear out of absolutely nowhere. There was no way Cena was going to kick out of that as Rhyno booked his ticket to King of the Ring to face fellow ECW alumnus RVD for the Hardcore Championship.
