SOUL FEVER

With the break in the WNBA and the on-going NBA off-season, Recks and Khyri packed some bags and headed to Fresno for a couple weeks. The two haven't been back home in some time quality time with family, where it all started, was much needed for them. After some plan prepping before they're arrival, they were able to set up a big family gathering at the local park, having a summer jam/cookout for family and friends of community. Everything went off without a hitch and Recks and Khyri found themselves basking in their own happiness...

"You having a good time?"

"Of course", Khyri responded. "It's a beautiful day in Fresno, we're home, surrounded by friends and family, got the love of my life next to me, good music, good food, a little bit of basketball competition to watch, what's not to like?"

"Fair point. Just, it's been a while since we got to do something family oriented."

"Yeah, our schedules are hectic. But we make a way."

"True indeed." Recks looks over to his left, seeing Kairos making a mess of ice cream. "I'd ask if you're having a good time too, but I can see that you are. Hey, you don't have to eat it all at once, there's more where it came from."

"But it's melting."

"Yeah, and your face is Michael Jackson white with all that cream on you."

Kairos looks inquisitive at Recks, "...Who's Michael Jackson?"

Recks let off a deep sigh before answering with grief in his voice. "Look, don't start this, okay?" As Recks got up, he gave Kairos side eyes for his lack of history, but he knew it wasn't his fault, but he couldn't help be disappointed while Kairos sat there dumbfounded.

"Asking me who's Michael Jackson, nobody taught that boy anything before he was born? Kids these days", Recks dastardly mumbled as he walked away, shaking his head.

Recks made his way over to the area where the old heads were sitting about, chatting, playing dominoes, and adoring the triplets. Between Recks and Khyri's mother, you couldn't separate them from the toddlers.

"Hey Pops"

"Hey, son. You hungry? Food is almost ready."

"Yeah, definitely. Haven't ate all day, know you know you got to hit me with that double cheese steak n' bacon."

"Shouldn't you be watching what you eat. You know your BMI is a little high for your size."

"Awh, come on Pops, don't start with that too man. Had to hear that for like six months with the team, let me just enjoy this, come on man, hook me up!"

"Alright, alright. Just looking out for my boy."

"Thank you Pops, we gotta look out for each other, or we're gonna get roughshod by our common enemies, the women."

"I heard that!" Recks' Mom shouted as she glared his way.

"Ma! I keep telling you, you don't count!"

"What you saying? I'm not woman enough???"

Just as Recks got his food, it was the perfect opportunity to make bail, "aight old man, I'ma slide out of here and let you handle this one."

"Handle what!? Get your butt back over here, don't include me in nothing!"

"Nah, you got this Pops! Good looking on the food, I'ma get at you later!"

Recks scurried off into the distance away from the crowd, sitting under a tree, enjoying the food and music as he browse through the news feed. After learning the Clippers had drafted Ivan Frost, this character Recks is not too fond of, the reality was set that L.A. may have some contention from next door, that is if the hype was real about the kid. Recks didn't bother to check out any Lakers news, missing out on learning Derrick Rose was coming to town. No more than 20 minutes later, a couple heads pulled up aside Recks unbeknownst...

"Hey, hey.."

Recks turns his attention to the voice, acknowledging Katie Lou and Marina. "Oh snap! Hey, what's up? What y'all doing here?"

"Khyri invited us to come out. Is she around?"

"Yeah, she's over there on the bleachers with Kai, can't miss her."

"Okay. What you doing way over here? Not enjoying the party?"

"Nah, just a little breather from it. Was eating. But help y'all-selves to drinks and food."

Before they walked away, Marina introduced herself to Recks.

"Hi, I just wanted I'm such a big fan of yours. I'm Marina by the way. Like, I really, really love your game and glad I finally got to meet you!"

"Yeah, I know who you are and thank you, it's a honor to meet you."

Recks extended his hand to her as she complied with the handshake.

"Likewise", Marina cheesed and gushed as Katie rolled her eyes.

"Bye, Recks, catch you later.", Katie Lou retorted as she pulled Marina away smiling.

"Leave that alone, young blood..", a deep voice from distance shouted.

As Recks looked over his shoulder, seeing LeBron leaning on his Lamborghini Aventador with Bronny.

"Yoooo, what's up old man!"

"Old? I may be retired, but I'll still run you for your money on these courts", LeBron jokes.

"Whatever! What's up Bronny, you growing like crazy!"

"What's up man, good to see you."

"When you coming to the league? Quit playing with them college boys and get you some grown man comp."

Bronny smugs at the joke, "Don't worry, I'll be there next year."

"Can you believe it? Boy wanted to do four years at Kentucky." said LeBron.

"That's what's up though, too many cats rolling up to the league one and done and falling short. Hope you're just enjoying that campus life and experience. It's the best bro, telling you."

"Yeah, I can't lie, I'm having a blast there. Made some cool friends there."

"That's what's up. So, what y'all doing here, everybody just pulling up on me unannounced."

"We was just passing through. Bronny saw a tweet about you hanging out here, so we pulled up."

"Man, and here I thought you wanted my autograph finally", Recks joked.

"Nah, you can keep that, someone else can use those nickels and dimes."

"Ah, funny man. Well, look, since y'all here, pull up, get a bite, enjoy y'all selves."

"We'd love to, but we got to ride out, got a flight to catch. Like I said, we just rolling through, say what's up. But nonetheless, congrats on the title once again. You did well for L.A. and look like it's in good hands."

"Preciate it fam. Much love."

"You know y'all gotta run it back next season."

"Oh, indeed. I'm already itching for title number four."

"Just don't take the Clippers lightly this year, Ivan Frost is something serious."

"You high on him too huh?"

"Who's not?"

Recks raises his hand slowly.

"Well, good luck with that rude awakening. Bronny, you ready?"

The two make their way back in the ride, readying to depart.

"Loving this whip G'!"

"Thank you. You win as many games as I did, you can have one yourself." LeBron jokes. "Aye, tell Derrick I said what up."

"Derrick?"

"Oh, you didn't know? Derrick Rose coming to L.A., he's your new teammate."

"What??? Get the F' outta here!!"

"Yeah man. Magic put a call in for him last week, got the trade done."

"Yoo, that's crazy! Yo, thanks for the news bro!"

"I'ma holler at you.."

LeBron sped off, leaving Recks excited from the news. Derrick Rose was now a Los Angeles Laker. Recks was high on Derrick Rose growing up. And having trained with him through some rehab a couple years back, made their connection even tighter. Now having a chance to play alongside one of the all-time greats and should've been "greater", who knows, maybe they can turn back the clock and right the wrongs done to Rose. Though Recks wanted to hit up Derrick about the news, it was summer time and his focus was solely on his family and having a good time before getting ready for the next season. The anticipation was already killing him, but the upcoming season was worth the wait...

Absolutely! 36 and still doing it. I'm glad he got out Memphis, apparently he wasn't getting the work he put out for Utah and Charlotte.
I don't expect him to be explosive, but If he plays like that for us, or even half of that, I'm a happy camper.

Barry Hood, Mo Valentine, J.T. Byars, or even Brook Elliot. OKC got all these bigs man, it's a crazy log jam there. They already got 4 centers. They gonna be the new Nuggets if they don't make some moves.

Also, feel free to inquire about other teams/players. I know this is a player/story-chise revolving around two MCs, but much is obliged on whatever you wanna know what's going on around the league.

I'm just curious about if there are any interesting rosters, players and their feats, or rebuilds going on worth mentioning. You're pretty deep and I love the Frost storyline, so I'd like to hear more stuff like that when it pops up.
