Match #1: The APA vs. The Rock 'n' Sock Connection | Tag Team | World Tag Team Championships :threehalfstar:
The Rock and Cactus Jack came in with an excellent strategy. Isolate the already weakened Faarooq. They never let JBL tag into the matchup and effectively made this a two on one handicap match between themselves and one half of the APA. At one point Cactus Jack was the legal man and he tossed Faarooq outside of the ring. The Rock capitalized, hitting Faarooq on the outside with a Rock Bottom before rolling him back in. Cactus Jack clotheslined JBL off the apron then went back to Faarooq and hit him with a Butterfly Piledriver to pin him for three and make the Rock 'n' Sock Connection your new World Tag Team Champions.

Match #2: The Boogeyman vs. The Hurricane | One on One | United States Championship :fourhalfstar:
Villain vs. superhero. Boogeyman vs. Hurricane. Tonight the battle between good and evil would finally be settled with United States Championship gold on the line. The Hurricane looked intent on vanquishing the bad guy as he started off on an absolute tear, whipping Boogeyman all over the ring and arena. Momentum shifted though when he went for the Eye of the Hurricane and was countered. Boogeyman then hit Hurricane with some stiff shots to regain control of the match. He then went for his signature move The Boogeyslam but it was countered and Hurricane dropkicked him to the mat. He went to the apron and launched himself back in hitting Boogeyman with the Slingshot Lariat, which looked like it would end things but Boogeyman was just close enough to the ropes to get a hand on them to save himself. Hurricane started lining up Boogeyman for the Superman Punch but the monster dodged it and when Hurricane turned around he ran right into a devastating Boogeybomb. Unlike Boogeyman, Hurricane didn't have the luxury of being near the ropes and simply didn't have enough in him to kick out as Boogeyman became the new United States Champion. Who can stop this monster?

Match #3: Scott Steiner vs. Shelton Benjamin w/ MVP | One on One | Intercontinental Championship :fourstar:
Shelton Benjamin came out to this match with a new manager, Montel Vontavious Porter, also known as MVP. He was dressed sharply in a suit and looked very intent on running interference in this matchup. Steiner looked dominant as he has done for the entirety of his reign as champ, and showed no signs of slowing down despite his loss to HHH on RAW. Shelton was no slouch either and kept pace with the champ throughout. Steiner started to gain the advantage and was going to go for a Frankensteiner but Shelton Benjamin "accidentally" knocked out the referee with his feet as he was being lifted in the air. MVP took advantage of the downed referee and tossed a chair into the ring for Benjamin to use. He went to use the chair, but Steiner was too quick and moved out of the way and knocked the chair to the mat. He then picked up Shelton and hit the Frankensteiner directly on the chair as the referee came to, to retain his title. A pissed off Shelton Benjamin got into an argument with MVP after the match saying, "You ain't good enough for me, you don't live up to the GOLD STANDARD, you're fired!"

Match #4: Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Goldberg vs. Rey Mysterio | Battle Royal :threehalfstar:
Goldberg eliminated Rey Mysterio almost immediately, hurling the smallest competitor in the matchup out of the ring. There weren't any eliminations after that for a while as the superstars competed in the ring, but eventually Goldberg got a second elimination of the match sending another luchador, Eddie Guerrero, out over the top rope. He flexed and celebrated which was a mistake because Bret Hart took advantage to lift him up and over as well. It came down to Bret, Kurt and HBK. HBK and Bret seemed to want to have a faceoff between themselves to renew their old rivalry so they worked together to eliminate Kurt Angle. This was a mistake from Bret though because as soon as they tossed Angle over, HBK caught him with a Superkick out of nowhere and then picked his corpse up and tossed him over to win the battle royal.

Main Event: Rob Van Dam vs. Brock Lesnar l One on One | Undisputed Championship :fivestar:
Rob Van Dam was going into this match as a heavy underdog especially after being attacked by Brock Lesnar on Monday. And he looked like one early on as Brock simply ragdolled him with suplexes and powerful moves for most of the matchup. Brock was getting cocky though and not going for pinfalls early giving RVD some chance of staying in the matchup. Eventually though Brock Lesnar did hit an F-5, but RVD somehow kicked out of it to stay in the matchup. RVD then started to turn the tables from there because Brock gave him too much time to recover hitting a Rolling Thunder and following that up with the Five Star Frog Splash but only getting a two count. RVD seemed to have a second hit of energy though as he repeated the exact same two moves again, but this time Brock rolled out of the way of the Five Star Frog Splash. When Van Dam got to his feet, Brock lifted him up for the F-5, but RVD countered it into a tornado DDT. He climbed the top turnbuckle for a third time and hit the Five Star Frog Splash connecting this time, seemingly about to win the matchup. But then from the speakers John Cena's music started playing. He was on the ramp with his money in the bank briefcase and declaring that he was cashing in RIGHT NOW, turning this match into a triple threat. Lesnar and RVD were both spent and John Cena took full advantage, first drop kicking RVD and throwing him out of the ring before picking up Lesnar and hitting him with the F-U to pin him to the mat for three and win his first ever WWE Undisputed Championship.

Match #1: Stone Cold vs. Booker T vs. Hollywood Hogan vs. Edge (c) vs. Goldberg vs. Rey Mysterio | Ladder | Hardcore Championship :threestar:
Proving once again that the Hardcore Championship can be defended any time, any where and in any type of match, Edge was booked to defend his title in a seemingly impossible 6-man ladder match against some of the toughest competitors in the company. Edge got jumped by everyone early and tossed out of the ring as the other superstars vied for their chance at the title. Goldberg was clearing house and made a run up the ladder for the belt but by then Edge had recovered and ran up the ladder to challenge him for it. Before either man could secure it though the ladder was toppled by Hollywood Hogan. Hogan then went for another huge spot as Rey Mysterio was lying on a ladder straddled between the ring apron and the announce table and he flew over the top ropes putting himself and Rey through the ladder taking them both out of commission. Booker T and Austin were the last two left and both of them scrambled for the belt. Edge recovered and set up a ladder while the two of them were fighting each other and the ultimate opportunist secured it before anyone was the wiser to retain his Hardcore Championship.

Match #2: Boogeyman vs. Shelton Benjamin | One on One :threehalfstar:
The newly crowned United States Champion, The Boogeyman, made his way to the ring licking his chops at the prospect of victimizing Shelton Benjamin. And while Benjamin did hold his own in this match, he was eventual overpowered by the WWE's resident supervillain. He would be pinned after missing a superkick and getting caught with a follow up Boogeybomb in the center of the ring. After the match though, Kurt Angle made his way to the stage sporting a new attire and had a few choice words for the champion, "You know Boogeyman, you seem to think you're the only one who's a monster here, you seem to think you're the only one who can scare people. Well I can be a monster too. I'm the wrestling machine, I'll break your freakin' ankle, I'll suplex you through a table, I'll do whatever it takes to win. You might be the able to haunt people's dreams, but I'm the American Nightmare and I plan to bring that United States championship back to exactly where it belongs. To the American people and around my waist."

Match #3: Scott Steiner vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart | One on One :fourhalfstar:
Steiner and Bret Hart put on a show in this one. Both guys are excellent in ring technicians and showed that in this matchup. There were several near falls for both men and at one point Bret locked Scott in the Sharpshooter nearly forcing him to tap out before he could crawl his way to the ropes. Steiner hit the Frankensteiner not long later but Bret was able to kick out at the last second. As the fight continued, Bret was gaining the advantage and looked set for a win against the IC Champ. He hit a piledriver then managed to lock in another Sharpshooter, this time in the center of the ring. It looked like Scott had nowhere to go but he was able to roll through the Sharpshooter somehow and pop back up to hit Bret with a second Frankensteiner to get the victory. His celebration was cut short though when Batista came rushing into the ring after for a face to face confrontation. The Animal's vicious eyes were fixated on Steiner's IC title and though neither man said anything, Steiner raised his belt up acknowledging the challenge that Batista, the former Undisputed Champion and United States Champion had silently issued.

Match #4: New World Order vs. D-Generation X | Tag Team | #1 Contender's Match :fourstar:
The nWo faced off against D-X in a match to become the #1 contenders for the World Tag Team Championships. This was a back and forth matchup but the decisive moment came when Triple H had been fighting Kevin Nash outside of the ring for a while and tossed Nash back in at the 8 count. HHH then tried to get back in himself but had his legs held by Scott Hall, who pulled him off the apron and hit him with the Outsider's Edge. Though Shawn Michaels tried to help, delivering a Sweet Chin Music to Hall at that point, HHH didn't have enough time to get up and back into the ring and was counted out as the nWo stole the #1 contender's spot from DX. After the match, The Rock 'n' Sock Connection came out, tag team titles in tow to confront their next opponents.

Main Event: John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam l One on One :fourstar:
The new WWE Champion John Cena came out sporting a new all-white attire, and a new WWE Championship spinner belt as well. Cena was out to prove that it wasn't just a fluke that he won the title via the Money in the Bank last night and the best way to do that was by taking on one of the men he defeated in the impromptu triple threat match, Rob Van Dam. Cena and RVD were completely equal for most of the match but when RVD hit the Rolling Thunder he looked to be gaining some momentum. He then started to climb the top rope but Cena wasn't quite as hurt as he'd appeared to be and he scrambled up to clip RVD's feet and make him hit his crotch on the top turnbuckle. RVD writhed in pain and Cena took advantage, climbing the turnbuckle as well to hit the F-U off the top rope in devastating fashion to get the win. It was a short-lived victory though as the man who'd lost his title to Cena last night, Brock Lesnar, stormed the ring and laid waste to the champion before lifting up his WWE Championship and saying, "I'm coming for what's rightfully mine, Cena."

Match #2: Boogeyman (c) vs. Kurt Angle | Hell in a Cell | United States Championship :fourhalfstar:
To defeat the ultimate villain of the WWE, Kurt Angle had to go to the depths of hell and face him inside the unforgiving structure of the Hell in a Cell match. And Angle did exactly that, he gave Boogeyman everything he had even hitting an Angle Slam, but Boogeyman made the lights go out as he has so many times before to get back into the matchup with a Boogeybomb that only got a two count. Angle knew he had to do something drastic to win this so he lit a table on fire and Angle Slammed Boogeyman through the table pinning

Match #3: nWo vs. Rock 'n' Sock Connection (c) | Tag Team | World Tag Team Championships :twohalfstar:
Before this match could get started, The Rock walked out on Cactus Jack, stating that tag team competition was beneath him and he wanted to return back to competing for top singles gold. He walked backstage and left Cactus Jack to take on the nWo on his own. While Jack fought valiantly, he was eventually put down with a vicious Powerbomb from Nash and an Outsiders' Edge from Hall. Hogan came out to try to stop the attack but was bludgeoned by Nash and Hall who kicked him out of the nWo and said they were all going their separate ways.

Main Event: John Cena (c) vs. Brock Lesnar l One on One | WWE Championship :twohalfstar:
Brock Lesnar victimized John Cena in this match. The champ was really only the champ in name as it was immediately clear he was holding onto a belt that was much too big for him. Lesnar suplexed Cena repeatedly before hitting him with an F-5 to easily defeat him and reclaim the WWE Championship as his own.

Benoit, Jericho Headline Latest Suite of WWE Signings

Image

The Associated Press
WWE News Blast

HARTFORD, CT --- Following its latest pay-per-view, Hell in a Cell, WWE has made several signings to bolster its roster from 30 to 40 total superstars. Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit are the two biggest signings, both former title holders in the company, and join the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship divisions respectively. The WWE has also completed the signings of two giants with The Big Show and Mark Henry joining Chris Benoit in the US Division. At Hell in a Cell, The Rock walked out on his tag partner and declared his frustration with not being able to go after top singles belts as a tag team wrestler. Several other veteran superstars shared the same concerns with WWE brass and as a result, Shawn Michaels and Triple H have deformed D-Generation X to join singles pursuits, while Undertaker and Kane of the Brothers of Destruction have done the same.

These recent moves have left the WWE's tag team division in somewhat of a disarray with limited numbers, so they have offered mega contracts to several prominent tag teams to bolster the group. The headliner signings in this category were The Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz respectively, both former World Tag Team Champions with the company. Those were followed by signing Stevie Ray, Booker T's brother, to join him in the tag division and reform the Harlem Heat tag team from their WCW days. In a similar move, WWE brought back Charlie Haas to reform his tag team with Shelton Benjamin that will be known going forwards as American Alpha. Lastly, to round out the division WWE has scooped up Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay of Too Cool and Road Dogg and Billy Gunn of the New Age Outlaws.
