Lawrence apparently had heard enough about the return of Colts running back Jonathan Taylor and took it upon himself to garner the headlines. The 3rd-year quarterback tied the NFL record for most passing touchdowns in a single-game, tossing 7 in Jacksonville's 56-10 victory over the Colts, now losers of two straight. The seven touchdowns launched Lawrence from 8 touchdowns on the season to 15 - nearly doubling his season total. He now ranks second in the NFL in passing scores. The win also places the Jaguars atop the AFC South but they're followed closely by the Colts (3-3) and Tennessee Titans (3-3).

Here were other things to note for Week 6:

• Desmond Ridder's had a quiet but productive season for the Atlanta Falcons
  The Atlanta Falcons have been searching for a franchise quarterback since Matt Ryan's departure, and they took a chance on Desmond Ridder in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft. In his first season as Atlanta's starting quarterback, Ridder's impressed with a 70% completion percentage for 1,323 yards and a 14-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio. His 110.3 passer rating also ranks 6th in the NFL, and he's helped the Falcons win 3 of their last 4 contests to get them back into contention in the NFC South. If Ridder is able to keep up his play, the Falcons may have found their future quarterback to go alongside the core pieces of Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and rookie Bijan Robinson on offense.

• Von Miller's return rewarded with AFC Defensive Player of the Week
  Miller made an instant impact upon his return to the Buffalo Bills after missing the team's first 5 games while recovering from offseason knee surgery. The future Hall of Famer tallied 10 tackles and 3 sacks in the Bills' 1-point win over the New York Giants to help Buffalo (5-1) keep pace with the Miami Dolphins (5-1) in the AFC East. His return to the defensive line brings more firepower to the Bills' 5th-ranked scoring defense.

• Kyler Murray helps the Cardinals pick up their first win of 2023
  It wasn't Miller who played a pivotal role for his team in his return to the football field...the Cardinals welcomed back quarterback Kyler Murray, and he responded by delivering Arizona with their first win of the regular season. The victory comes against the still winless Los Angeles Rams, who welcomed back a player of their own - wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who had just 2 receptions for 33 yards. Murray threw for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns and showed that he was not afraid to run the football either despite just coming back from a torn ACL. The 4th-year starter rushed the ball 18 times for 67 yards. Arizona and Murray will look to carry their momentum into next week's contest in Seattle.
  
  Another team picking up their first win of 2023: the Houston Texans, who defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-21. That leaves just 4 winless teams remaining - the Rams, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Detroit Lions.

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks will be without cornerback Tariq Woolen on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals after suffering a toe injury in practice, Pete Carroll has announced. The injury is expected to only keep Woolen out for the team's next contest.

Woolen was instrumental in limiting Cincinnati's star receiver Ja'Marr Chase to just 2 catches in last week's win. He's also one of three Seahawks defenders with an interception this season. The second-year cornerback has tallied 21 tackles so far in the 2023 campaign.

Seattle likely turns to Artie Burns, Coby Bryant, and Mike Jackson Sr. to support rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon. The Seahawks could also look towards Julian Love for support as well...the safety came into the NFL as a cornerback while playing for Notre Dame.

The Cardinals, an NFC West rival, are coming off their first win of the regular season thanks to Kyler Murray's return as the team's starting quarterback. His receiving cast consists of Zach Pascal, Zach Ertz, and speedy receivers Rondale Moore and Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seahawks have an opportunity to extend their NFC West lead with a win against the Arizona Cardinals, a team fresh off the heels of their first win last week.

Cardinals Statistical Leaders

• QB Kyler Murray: 174 passing yards, 2 touchdowns (returning from torn ACL)
• HB James Conner: 317 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns
• WR Zach Pascal: 450 yards (8th in NFL), 4 touchdowns
• S Budda Baker: 43 tackles, TFL, 1 interception

Their 1-5 record may be deceptive in some ways - the Cardinals have thus far faced a tough schedule, playing the likes of the New York Giants, the undefeated Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco, and Cincinnati in 4 of their first 6 contests. They lost to the Giants by 7 points and the Cowboys by 3 points. And in Kyler Murray's absence, veteran Joshua Dobbs put up respectable numbers as the team's starting quarterback - 1,207 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

Arizona welcomed Murray back last week and won for the first time in 2023. Now they're looking ahead to spoiling Seattle's homecoming - this will be the Seahawks' first home game in a month. The team will attempt to win their 5th game of the season without starting cornerback Tariq Woolen, who was ruled out earlier this week.

Things to Watch For

• Will Arizona's momentum be carried into Lumen Field?
  There are two things in play here:
  
  1. Arizona's first win last week. While it was against a winless Rams team, it got the Cardinals in the winning column for the first time this season, and it was evident that Murray's return rejuvenated the team.
  
  2. A divisional battle. We saw in the first week of the season that the Seahawks squeaked by the Rams (who are still without a win), and divisional games can always yield unexpected results. A pumped up Cardinals team along with a divisional battle can spell a lot of uncertainty in the game script.

• Does Tariq Woolen's absence impact the Seahawks?
  Seattle has struggled in pass defense this season, and now they are without their best cornerback on Sunday. That leaves Devon Witherspoon, Coby Bryant, Mike Jackson Sr., Artie Burns, Tre Brown, and Kyu Blu Kelly as the team's only health cornerbacks. Brown and Kelly have yet to see a defensive snap this season, and of the 4 that have seen playing time, Burns is the only one with an interception. Murray may look to target the Seahawks secondary on Sunday.

D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith connected for touchdowns twice...but the Seahawks ultimately came up short of a win.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks walked back silently to their locker room in what some would call a state of shock after losing at Lumen Field to the 1-win Arizona Cardinals.

"I'm not gonna lie...you could probably hear a pin drop," said safety Jamal Adams.

The loss comes on quarterback Geno Smith's best day of his career. The quarterback threw for a career-best 432 yards and 4 touchdowns, while wide receiver D.K. Metcalf fell 3 yards shy of tying his career-high in receiving yards. Metcalf finished with 174 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, his second multi-TD game this season. While fantasy owners rejoiced the performances of Smith and Metcalf, the duo expressed their disappointment in the team's 2-point loss.

Smith said, "It's not about what I did or what D.K. did today, it's about what the team did. We didn't do what we needed to do to win today, so it's back to the game tape to see where we can improve for next week." Metcalf added, "At the end of the day, we took an 'L' and that's not what we want."

The Seahawks gave their defense and opportunity to close out the game after Smith hit tight end Noah Fant for a 23-yard touchdown that gave the team a 32-31 lead after a failed 2-point attempt, which in hindsight may have given Seattle a crack at overtime had they converted. However, what has been the Seahawks' Achilles heel this season - the pass defense - failed to step up as Kyler Murray quickly marched the Cardinals down the field and ended the drive with a go-ahead field goal from Matt Prater.

Playing without Tariq Woolen, the Seahawks allowed Murray to complete 75 percent of his passes for 362 yards and a touchdown. Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown - who Woolen would have likely been assigned to cover had he played - burned the Seahawks secondary with his speed for a season-high 134 receiving yards and a touchdown on 6 catches. James Conner kicked off the game with 2 rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to give early momentum to Arizona.

The 2-point difference also sheds further light on Seahawks place kicker Jason Myers, who missed another field goal and extra point today. He took on most of the blame last week even though the Seahawks defeated the Bengals after missing a field goal and two extra points. It's hard to determine whether the 4 missed points would have made any difference in changing the game situation, but adding those points to the final score would have given the Seahawks a 2-point win.

The team returns to practice tomorrow to prepare for the Cleveland Browns.

Congratulations, Dallas - the Cowboys are the only team without a loss this season as they watched the Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night. But enough talk about who is still undefeated and who isn't...let's talk more about the Miami Dolphins, who have not lost a game since their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. There were plenty of questions about Tua Tagovailoa's football future after sustaining multiple concussions last season, but the former National Champion is showing that he is among the top quarterbacks when healthy. He's thrown for 16 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions this year and has Miami currently in 1st place in the AFC East.

Here were other things to note for Week 7:

• The Packers haven't lost a step with Jordan Love
  Head coach Matt LaFleur has done what he could to get Jordan Love ready as the Packers' quarterback of the future, and Love has responded by delivering 3 straight wins for Green Bay after a 1-2 start. Now no longer in the shadows of Aaron Rodgers, the 3rd-year quarterback has flourished under LaFleur's offense. He's completed about 67 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and 2 interception through 6 games. The Packers have a chance to make a statement win over the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.

• The Bears are leading the NFC North
  Yes, you heard that right. Let's stay in the NFC North, where the Chicago Bears continue to impress under second-year head coach Matt Eberflus. Like the Packers, the Bears have also won 3 straight games and maintain a narrow division lead with a 5-2 record. Turnovers have greatly contributed to their success so far - their 12 interceptions on defense ranks second in the NFL.
