SEATTLE, Wash. - The last time the Seahawks faced a team from the state of Pennsylvania, it took a 21-point comeback for them to win. While Seattle would welcome another comeback to that degree, it would be better if they started and finished strong against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

• HB Najee Harris: 1,103 yards (6th in NFL), 13 touchdowns (T-2nd in NFL)

Seattle's playoff chances were secured on Monday night with a San Francisco loss, while the Steelers are still looking to secure their own spot after narrowly missing it last year. A win would bring them one game closer, and with some help the Steelers could wrap things up by the end of the day. They are currently the 6th seed in the AFC. Pittsburgh was 7-3 before losing three straight games...they have won their last 2 games, including a pivotal one against the Bengals last week.

They're up against the number one offense without defensive end Cameron Heyward, who has been sidelined since Week 11. However, Pittsburgh still has former Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt on their defense. The Steelers have also seen Desmond King II play the best football of his career, leading the team with 93 tackles along with a career-high 5 interceptions. Najee Harris leads the offense 1,103 yards and 13 touchdowns - it is his 3rd 1,000-yard seasons since joining to NFL.

Things to Watch For

• Najee Harris vs. Seattle's defense
  The Seahawks were able to stuff Derrick Henry last week, limiting him to 39 yards. They'll look to do the same this week against another top 10 running back in Harris, who keeps the Steelers offense moving similar to what Henry does for Tennessee. Kenny Pickett has had a solid second season at quarterback, but similar to Ryan Tannehill, he won't wow you with his current numbers. Seattle can improve their odds of winning if they can slow down Harris.

SEATTLE, Wash. - As the 2023 regular season nears its end, many media outlets are beginning to talk more and more about awards season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon made their cases for offensive and defensive rookie of the year with their performances against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Smith-Njigba recorded his first 100-yard game of the season, tallying 144 yards and a touchdown on 6 receptions. His biggest highlight came with under 2 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter, when Geno Smith found the rookie wide open on a wheel pattern for a 57-yard score, the rookie's longest play from scrimmage this season.

The play came immediately after Witherspoon picked off Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett to end a potential Pittsburgh scoring drive. It was Witherspoon's second interception of the season, and the cornerback has done almost everything for the Seahawks this season on defense, whether it is sacking the quarterback, picking them off, or even recovering fumbles.

"No surprises there. These guys have put in the work constantly during practice and have shown all season why they we ranked them so high on our draft board," Pete Carroll said about Seattle's first round selections.

For a second straight game, it was the Seahawks defense that stole the spotlight from their number one offense. Just like last week against the Titans, the Seahawks defense paved the way to a 17-point second quarter and help extend the Seahawks lead to 20-0. In addition to Witherspoon's interception, Seahawks linebacker Boye Mafe caused Pickett to lose the ball, leading to a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Dre'Mont Jones. It was also Seattle's second consecutive game with a defensive touchdown. Seattle also stopped Steelers running back Najee Harris for 39 yards on 10 carries.

Pittsburgh finally got on the scoreboard early in the 4th quarter when Pickett connected with Jaylen Warren for an 8-yard touchdown, however it was too late for a Steelers comeback. Smith put the game away after hitting D.K. Metcalf in the end zone on an improvised route to extend Seattle's lead back to 3 possessions.

Things on the defensive side of the football seem to be coming together for the Seahawks at no better time with the playoffs looming. The only things left for the Seahawks to do this regular season are to: 1. stay healthy and 2. get a first round bye. Center Evan Brown had to leave the game late in the 1st quarter and did not return. He is scheduled to be further evaluated tomorrow by team doctors.

The Seahawks can tie their franchise record for most wins in a season next week when they wrap up the regular season against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Vikings may did not just take down their bitter division rival on Monday night, but may have knocked them out of playoff contention depending on what happens next week. But let's keep the focus on Minnesota, whose passing game has monstrous this season behind Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and K.J. Osborn. But it was running back Alexander Mattison that punched in two touchdowns to help the Vikings to a 30-24 victory despite being out-gained by the Packers. A Chicago Bears loss on Sunday handed Minnesota their second straight NFC North title.

Here were other things to note for Week 17:

• Joe Burrow and the Bengals are playoff-bound
  Cincinnati punched their ticket to the postseason with an impressive 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Burrow gets another crack at the chance to win the Lombardi Trophy after suffering several heartbreaking defeats in the past 2 seasons - in 2021, the Bengals lost by 3 points in the Super Bowl. Last year, Cincinnati was 4 points away from advancing to their second straight Super Bowl appearance, losing to none other than the Chiefs.

• A new leader emerges in the NFC South
  ...and it's the Atlanta Falcons, who have won 3 straight games while witnessing the Panthers lose 3 straight. Atlanta can seal up the NFC South and their first playoff appearance since 2017 (and first under head coach Arthur Smith) with a win against the New Orleans Saints or a Carolina loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of the biggest reasons behind Atlanta's late-season surge? Desmond Ridder, who's thrown 10 touchdowns in during the Falcons' winning streak.

• Something is clicking for Zach Wilson
  We certainly didn't see this coming after the New York Jets started the season 1-9, but 3rd-year quarterback Zach Wilson has been on an absolute tear to finish the season. The quarterback, who had to replace Aaron Rodgers due to a season-ending injury, is now tied for 2nd in the NFL with 34 passing touchdowns, including a 10-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio in his last 7 games. The Jets went 5-2 in those contests. His future with New York is unclear with 2 years remaining on his contract, but his performance this season has to give Robert Saleh and the Jets coaching staff some renewed confidence in the former 2nd overall pick, whose career hasn't panned out the way he or the Jets have wanted it to.

Key Matchups for Week 18

  Thanks to 6 straight losses, the Dolphins find themselves on the outside looking in for a wildcard spot, and now they need to beat the AFC-leading Bills and get some help. The Bills, on the other hand, are playing for a first round bye. A loss coupled with a Ravens victory would have Buffalo playing on wild card weekend.

• Jacksonville Jaguars (9-7) vs. Tennessee Titans (9-7)
  Win, and you're in. The winner claims the AFC South title, while the loser awaits their fate depending on other outcomes around the league.

• Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7) vs. Baltimore Ravens (12-4)
  This game probably means more to Pittsburgh than to Baltimore, but the Ravens would love nothing more than to potentially knock their most-hated divisional rival out of the playoff hunt.
