Sunderland Sign Andre Almeida to Replace Dan Neil

Sunderland have moved quickly to replace Dan Neil, securing the signature of Valencia's Andre Almeida for £24M. The Portuguese midfielder is exceptionally skilled on the ball and an adept striker of the ball as well who should improve the club's play on free kicks and other set pieces. He will take the #8 shirt and earn £45K per week.

Sunderland Sign Can Uzun

Sunderland have made a bit more of a lowkey move signing 19 year old center-forward, Can Uzun, from FC Nürnberg for £10.1M. Uzun is believed the be one of hidden gem young talents in the position and the club believes they can develop him into that over the next several seasons. This spells a bit of trouble for academy prospect Stanley Bailey, who was highly touted coming through but hasn't shown the levels for the first team. It is very likely Bailey will be moved on to accommodate Uzun while Adil Aouchiche steps into the backup center-forward role going forward after starting most of last season.

Sunderland Smash Transfer Record for Arnau Martinez

Hector Bellerin was sold earlier in the summer with promises from the Sunderland board that they were going to target a world class player at right back. Well that promise has been fulfilled with Arnau Martinez of Girona joining the club for a club record £45M fee. Martinez is considered one of the best young right backs in the world and has been a monster both going forwards and defensively for City Football Group club, Girona. He walks right into Sunderland's starting XI and should be an equally dangerous option to his counterpart Leif Davis on the other side of the pitch.

Sunderland Sell Academy Starlet Stanley Bailey to Spezia

There were high hopes for Stanley Bailey, but a failure to really show his talent with the first team has led to him being moved on by the club. He will join Italian side Spezia to hopefully grow his career outside of England. Sunderland received a £5.5M fee for the player.

Jay Matete Leaves Sunderland for Denmark

Sunderland completed another deal, recouping the £1.65M fee for Lewis-Skelly by selling defensive midfielder, Jay Matete to København for the same price. This likely will conclude Sunderland's transfer business despite a couple weeks remaining in the window. The board was adamant about completing all of its business before the opening fixture against Newcastle.
