Lakers slide continues with loss to Clippers
LeBron frustrated after game, says we aren't good enough
Recap of Clippers/Lakers game played on January 14, 2025
The Los Angeles Lakers are once again searching for answers. After pulling off a three-team blockbuster trade and acquiring Trae Young and Kelly Olynyk, the Lakers appear to going in the opposite direction. They have lost five of seven this month and seven of their last ten overall. They are slowly falling further and further in the standings and their schedule isn't getting easier. LeBron James after the game spoke reporters and James' tone was said to be frustrated. At the start of the season knowing that LeBron was going to be 40 years old, the Lakers decided to implement soft minutes restriction which would see James play no more than an average of 30 minutes a game and Coach Stotts and his staff have kept to their plan even if that comes at a cost of losing a game. Hosting the Clippers tonight the Lakers were hoping to get back on the winning track, but a weak third quarter allowed the Clippers to take a six-point half time lead and turn into a fourteen-point lead going into the fourth. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard combined to score 85 points the last time these two teams met and in tonight's matchup in the second half these two players were unstoppable. Paul had 18 points in the second half while Leonard had 16. Overall, George finished the game with 40 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
