Don't look now, but it seems the Los Angeles Lakers are finally figuring it out. Taking on the Philadelphia 76ers who have not had the season they were hoping for, but could still play the role of spoilers for other teams, the Lakers led by as many as 17 tonight and led the whole game from start to finish. In the end it was Trae Young who hit eight straight free throws to keep the 76ers at arms distance and help the Lakers pull out a 110-106 victory. The win was the third straight for the Lakers. For the 76ers it is another loss for them in a season where they had championship hopes when they signed DeMar DeRozan, Lonnie Walker IV and Jae Crowder. The 76ers cut the Lakers lead down to three-points, 98-95 and that's when Young stepped up to the free throw line and calmly knocked one after the other down. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both led the Lakers tonight, scoring 28 points each (James 13-of-22 from the field and AD going 13-of-17). James also had four rebounds, 11 assists and one steal. Davis had eight rebounds, four assists, one steal and 3 blocks. Trae Young finished with 17 points, three rebounds and seven assists. Andre Drummond had a rare double figure scoring night with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 27 points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Tyrese Maxey put up 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. DeMar DeRozan added 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals. The Lakers were able to close out the week with a perfect 3-0 record as they gear up for a four-game road trip out east. Their first matchup will be on Monday when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks.

Over the past few weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers have shown some vast improvement, but still overall are on the cusp of getting into the play-in tournament, but there are still about four weeks to go. However, games like tonight against the Bucks, the Lakers must win and can't let slip away as the Bucks defeated the Lakers by the final score of 117-116. Damian Lillard led the way for the Bucks with 29 points, four rebounds, three assists, hitting 10-of-25 from the field and 7-of-17 from the three-point line. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and four blocks. Khris Middleton, returning to action from a knee injury scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Brook Lopez added 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and 2 blocks. Both Bobby Portis Jr. and Seth Curry had 10 points each of the Bucks bench. LeBron James led the Lakers with 31 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. Lakers bounce back with victory over 76ers

LeBron and Bronny provide the Lakers enough in the fourth quarter

This had to have been what LeBron James envisioned when the idea of playing alongside is son in the NBA. Bronny James went undrafted but was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers immediately following. From a summer contract to a two-way contract and then to a standard contract, the ride for the young James has been a rollercoaster one. He was assigned to the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G-League where he was able to get some playing time and experience. He was called up to the main roster on five different occasions, whenever LeBron would sit out a game they utilized this roster spot for Bronny. Now Bronny has been called up and looks like he will be with the main roster for the rest of the season and with Trae Young dealing with a bruised left heel, Gabe Vincent moved into the starting lineup creating some room for Bronny to slide into the backup point guard slot. During the 4th quarter tonight, it was a special moment for both father and son to be on the court together and both contributing for the Lakers who came away with a 107-103 victory over Philadelphia. The win was the Lakers fourth victory in their last five games. LeBron James scored a game-high 34 points, hitting 13-of-22 shots, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists. Gabe Vincent, starting for Trae Young finished with 17 points, four rebounds and eight assists, hitting 6-of-10 shots from the field. Anthony Davis also had 17 points and 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Buddy Hield again off the bench finished with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and knocked down 3-of-5 from the three-point line. Bronny James in 13 minutes tonight, scored nine points with one assist. Joel Embiid shared game-high honors with 34 points, making 15-of-23 shots from the field and grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out three assists. Tyrese Maxey and DeMar DeRozan each had 17 points each and Jae Crowder added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. The Lakers are now in the 10th spot as it stands for now. They will take on the Washington Wizards tomorrow. They defeatd the Wizards back in December 115-111.
