James returns and leads Lakers to a must win

LeBron James returned to the Lakers lineup Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. And he returned fired up. LeBron led the Lakers to a 118-111 victory, scoring a team-high 47 points, hitting 21-of-31 shots and dishing out six assists. Trae Young put up 17 points and 10 assists while Anthony Davis added 14 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks. Ja Morant scored a game-high 53 points, going 22-of-44 from the field and also had six rebounds and six assists. Desmond Bane was the only other Grizzlies player to reach double figures with 14 points. The Lakers return home for a four game homstand starting on Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Lakers battle for a play-in tournament spot still alive

As the Lakers begin a four-game homestand, first up the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks have had a terrible season and could be looking at a transition change with the core of their roster, much like the Lakers, but on this night the Lakers stepped right on the Bucks and didn't let the foot off the pedal until the final buzzer sounded and the Lakers won their second straight game, 126-101. Trae Young led the Lakers with 30 points, knocking down 6-of-7 from the three-point line and dished out 10 assists. LeBron James scored 25 points, hit 11-of-21 shots from the field along with three rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block. Buddy Hield, starting place for Max Christie put up 18 points and also dished out 10 assists. Anthony Davis added 12 points and 17 rebounds and Bronny James finished out the Lakers in double figures with 12 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while shooting 9-of-15 from the field. Damian Lillard scored 21 points and had 8 assists, but had an off shooting night, going 6-of-23 from the field and 3-of-13 from the three-point line. Jordan Clarkson added 16 points and Brook Lopez had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Next up will be the Utah Jazz.

Lakers win third straight with gritty performance over Jazz

Trae Young provides a big spark in win

The Los Angeles Lakers won their third straight game in a row and second straight on this homestand defeating the Utah Jazz 98-87. Trae Young led the Lakers with a game-high 41 points, hitting 18-of-25 shots from the field and also dished out nine assists. LeBron James was the only other Laker to score in double figures, finishing with 19 points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks. Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Collin Sexton scored 14 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the field. Tobias Harris put in 12 points, three rebounds and three assists. The Jazz took a six-point lead, 81-75, but the Lakers went on a 14-0 run to retake the lead for good 89-81. The Memphis Grizzlies will be the next matchup for the Lakers on Sunday evening.
