The Los Angeles Lakes are once again set to participate in the NBA Play-In Tournament to determine the final two spots in the Western Conference Playoffs. Their opponents will be none other than the LA Clippers. These two-team met for the fourth and final time in the regular season on Friday night with the Clippers coming away with a 113-112 victory. Paul George led the Clippers with 40 points, hitting 17-of-31 shots from the field to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Kawhi Leonard put up 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block. Ivica Zubac scored 18 points, two rebounds, one steal and one block while Kyle Lowry added 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. LeBron James led the Lakers with 30 points, two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block. Buddy Hield scored 22 points, knocking down 4-of-4 shots from the three-point line and 9-of-10 shots overall. Trae Young scored 20 points, three rebounds, five assists and one steal. Andre Drummond recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Lakers will wrap up the regular season on Sunday against the Utah Jazz.

The Los Angeles Lakers ended the 2024-25 regular season Sunday afternoon in Utah against the Jazz. Utah came away with a 119-106 victory as the Lakers dropped their final two games of the season. The Lakers finished the season 41-41 and are set to take on the LA Clippers in the NBA Play-In Tournament with the winner getting the 7th seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz tonight with 32 points, hitting 13-of-20 shots from the field and 6-of-10 from the three-point line. Isaiah Collier added 21 points and six assists. Collin Sexton added 18 points, hitting 7-of-11 from the field. LeBron James led the Lakers with 27 points, five rebounds and five assists. Trae Young scored 22 points with three rebounds and nine assists. Anthony Davis added 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

After a long, grueling regular season the NBA playoffs will be getting underway this week. The Play-In Tournament will feature this season the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans in the Western Conference. If there is any team in the NBA that has a lengthy history in the brief history of the Play-In Tournament it is the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the fourth season the Lakers will be in the Play-In Tournament and they have a 3-1 record. The LA Clippers have been a part of the Play-In Tournament in the 2021-22 season. They have an 0-2 record after losses to the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans. This is the first time that the Lakers and Clippers have met with postseason implications on the line. This was a close battle throughout, but the Lakers down the stretch clamped down on the defensive end and the Big Three took care of business on the offensive end and the Lakers defeated the Clippers 113-108 to advance and secure the 7th seed in the Western Conference. Their prize, a matchup for the third straight year against the Denver Nuggets. Trae Young led the Lakers with 27 points, hitting 10-of-10 from the free throw line and also dished out six assists. LeBron James scored 23 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the field along with seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Anthony Davis got off to a fast start to open the game and finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and three blocks. The Lakers got great contributions from their bench today with Buddy Hield scoring 16 points and hitting 4-of-8 from the three-point line and Gabe Vincent finishing with 10 points including a couple big shots down in the last part of the fourth quarter. James Harden led the Clippers with 33 points, six rebounds and 10 assists. Paul George scored 25 points, grabbed five rebounds and had two steals. Bones Hyland, off the bench scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and Ivica Zubac had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Clippers will now face the winner of the Pelicans/Timberwolves game with the 8th and final spot on the line.
