Huskies nearly able to squeeze past Duke in defensive battle, ultimately fall 17-14
DURHAM, NC — Todd Pelino knocked down a 57-yard field goal with 34 seconds left in the third quarter to give Duke a 17-14 lead which would be enough, as the Blue Devils defense held off the UConn offense for the win.
Connecticut struck first with a 1-yard score, punched in by freshman back Durrell Robinson, the first of his career.
The lead was short lived, however, as Duke's Jaquez Moore ran in two touchdown scores before the Huskies would answer back in the third with a Skyler Bell touchdown reception.
The offense halted after that, combined with multiple holding calls and a stellar performance by the Blue Devils defense.

Quarterback Nick Evers had his best game yet as a Husky, passing for over 300 yards and a score with no turnovers.
"He's getting better every week as he gets more comfortable with the offense," said coach Jim Mora.
On defense, safety Malik Dixon-Williams led the way with seven tackles, but the defensive unit as a whole stood solid, even though it only recorded a single sack the entire game.
Next week, the UConn Huskies return home to kick off a six-game home stand, playing host to the FAU Owls.

Damn very tough loss.
Should provide a morale victory though

Jaquez did you dirty although I think his stat line is wrong
still encouraging that you stayed with Duke until the end...a 6-game home stand should provide a nice spark

not enough oomph for those 3rd down conversions. Think a few more of them could've made a difference in the game
Still commendable to keeping the gap small

he broke off for long gains every time he touched the ball

stat line is correct

we had a bunch of holding calls that made it third-and-long.. makes converting very difficult.

we had a missed FG in the first that apparently came back to haunt us...
