we avoided playing that running back last year because he was hurt but we had no problems with their defense which doesn't seem that much better. this might be a jeremiah smith chuck fest

Miami gets the season rolling with blowout win over Syracuse in opener
Syracuse head coach Fran Brown won't be vacationing in Miami any time soon, not after getting blown out last year in their home stadium on Senior Night only to turn around a suffer a bigger defeat against Miami in the home opener.
Miami did what they wanted, scoring a touchdown on special teams, defense and five offensive touchdowns in their 55-17 win over Syracuse on Saturday.
In his Miami debut, Nichollas Vattiato completed 31 of 40 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns, overcoming an early interception on a botched screen pass to Jeremiah Smith. Smith, the prized transfer acquisition from Ohio State, caught ten passes for 123 yards.
The first touchdown of the season, however, came from his former high school teammate Joshisa Trader who took a short pass 24 yards for the touchdown. Another transfer in Mario Williams had a busy day with seven receptions for 74 yards.
The Orange didn't reach the endzone until Miami began putting their reserves in, and even then, D'yoni Hill returned an interception for a touchdown. Miami started two transfers at corner in Dontae Balfour and Devin Moore with Balfour not surrendering a catch in man coverage and Moore allowing just one reception.
Miami Central graduates Rueben Bain Jr. and Wesley Bissainthe continued their game wrecking ways from last year with Bain registering two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks while Bissainthe led the team with eleven tackles and four tackles for loss. Linebacker Adarius Hayes had a sack and true freshman James Fernandez had two tackles for loss.
Miami's defensive performance comes on the heels of learning that one of their top players, defensive end Tyler Baron, is out for the season with a leg injury.
