Florida crashes and burn in Rich Rodriguez' debut as Hurricanes dismantle the Gators 45-3
Florida head coach Rich Rodriguez had to wait seven years until he was given another opportunity to be a head coach at a Power 4 program following firings at both Michigan and Arizona. Florida went out and hired Rodriguez, who is widely considered as one of the pioneers of the spread option offense, to pair him with what the Gators believe is a generational talent at quarterback in D.J. Lagway.
Miami, however, had different plans for their long awaited debut as Florida's offense scored just three points and Lagway was sacked four times in the Gators 45-3 blowout loss to Miami on Saturday in Miami Gardens.
The Hurricanes emptied their bench against their rivals with four quarterbacks getting in the game, led by Nicholas Vattiato who once again overcame an early interception to throw two touchdown passes. Judd Anderson replaces Vattiato in the third quarter, completing all three of his passes for 37 yards with a strike to Jeremiah Smith in the endzone. Smith caught six passes for 84 yards.
Emory Williams led a touchdown drive, needing just one completion as Miami's running game took over. The Hurricanes averaged almost six yards per carry, spreading the wealth among six different ball carriers with Jordan Lyle leading the team in rushing with eleven carries for 65 yards.

QB1 secured as IMG Academy's Keke Hagg commits to Miami during official visit
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
As soon as five-star quarterback Keke Hagg stepped foot on Miami's campus on Thursday night, the Crystal Balls came rolling in for the Hurricanes to land one of the nation's top quarterback. Miami completed the acquiring of their top arm talent during the Mario Cristobal are as IMG Academy signal caller committed to Miami on Saturday night.
Hagg reportedly pulled the trigger on Friday when he met with the coaching staff, getting the approval he needed from his family before making the decision.
"I felt really good about picking Miami really over the summer," Hagg said, "My mom hadn't really been on any of the visits, it was just my dad and me so once she got a chance to be around the coaching staff, the support staff, some of the other players, she felt really good about it and that was like the stamp of approval for us to make the move."
Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Florida State made up his top five.
Hagg is the No. 4 rated quarterback, the Sunshine State's No. 2 prospect and the nation's No. 29 overall player in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports rankings. He was the first quarterback to secure his ticket to the prestigious Elite 11 Finals earlier in the offseason at the Los Angeles Regional.
A truly dynamic player with the ball in his hands, Hegg's freshman year tape at Clearwater High School is a really fun watch as he carried a struggling Tornadoes team to five wins before transferring to Calvary Christian and then IMG Academy where he's learned to play more within the structure of an offense. He's got some Cam Ward like moxy to his game in terms of never rushing his process and being a really polished passer especially as he's played with more and more talent around him. At Clearwater, he was more of an athlete playing the position but at his last two stops, he's really refined his skills as a passer and is developing a really nice deep ball.
The Clearwater native is the type of talent that can definitely shake up a quarterback room. Miami has a player in each graduating class in addition to starting senior quarterback Nicholas Vattiato with a third-year player in Emory Williams, a second-year player in Judd Anderson and freshman Titus Willis currently on the roster. From a raw talent standpoint, Hagg is head and shoulders above all of them and could probably compete for a starting role right now on most college teams, Miami included.
It'll be interesting to see the fall out from Hagg's commitment both in terms of galvanizing other commits to jump on board but also potentially causing some current Miami quarterbacks to perhaps see the writing on the wall as he might be a day-one starter. Hagg is teammate's with five-star tight end Juan Woodside, which Miami is heavily involved in their recruitment. Woodside has visited Miami plenty of times in the summer with Hagg so the Canes should be viewed as the runaway favorites to land him as both have publicly stated the desire to play at the next level together.
The Hurricanes are also closing in on five-star receiver Davon Momah, the Tampa native that was on campus and with Hagg all weekend on his official visit as well. Momah says he likes what he's hearing and seeing from Miami but would like to visit Georgia later this season before making an official decision.

Oakleaf OL Darrius Keys picks Miami over Virginia Tech, Iowa
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
Oakleaf alum and Miami left tackle Jalen Rivers might be one of the first offensive tackles selected in next spring's draft. Four-star offensive lineman Darrius Keyes, who calls Rivers a mentor, is looking to follow in his footsteps, committing to the University of Miami on Tuesday.
Keyes is a top-100 prospect according to 247Sports and one of the top ranked interior lineman although similar to Rivers, he offers some positional versatility with Miami liking him at multiple positions, including potentially tackle.
He's listed at six-foot-three and 306 pounds which is a bit undersized, height and length wise, for the tackle position but Miami's coaching staff really likes his feet and technique in pass protection and think he could play out there at the Power 4 level.
