Pacific football spring practice update

Tigers staff happy with progress
By Richard Fitzwell Jr | @littledickfitzwell | April 13, 2024

With four weeks of spring practice in the books the Pacific football team is looking like a well oiled machine if you ask the coaching staff.

"We're pretty happy with where we are at overall." Head coach Brennan Carroll said as practice wrapped yesterday. "Considering the amount of work it has taken to get here I think we're all proud of what we're seeing on the field.

Although no official depth chart has been released we're starting to see some separation among a few of the position groups and are able to start to have some sense of the pecking order at this time.

Image

Quarterback
Braxton Maddox has looked to be the best overall QB in the group. He may not have the strongest arm of the bunch but he seems to make the best decisions and is able to place the ball well. David DePol and Xavior Jarvis are neck and neck behind him.

Image

Runningback
Terrell Martin has emerged as the leader of the group with his strong bruising runs. Sam Pelletier is a nice change of pace and a real threat catching the ball out of the backfield.

Image

Wide Receiver
Jaylen Christopher's blend of size and speed would be welcome on most any team in the nation. He has separated himself from the pack as the team's top receiver. Chase Porter, Eli Paine and Danny Hart are the next three most talented with a bit of a sharp drop off behind them.

Image

Tight End
Canadian Jermaine Washington flipped his commitment to Pacific from Duke and gave the Tigers offense a reliable option in the middle. He has shown great hands and an ability to run the full route tree effectively. Henry Pelletier, who has also worked at fullback, looks to be emerging as the second option here.

Image

Linebacker
Inside linebacker Mike Harrison has shown incredible instincts and a nose for the ball as well as a propensity for getting off blocks. He may well be the best player on the defensive side of the ball for Pacific.

Kicker
De'Coldest A'Gent looks primed to win some games for Pacific this season. He has a powerful leg and his accuracy has been improving throughout the spring.
