this has to be one of the softest schedules for a top ranked team, anything short of an undefeated regular season is a disappointment imo

agreed. i thought about changing some of the OOC opponents but I'm scared of fucking up other team schedules with the schedule glitch

Miami Hurricanes Football Fall Camp Preview
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider

The defending ACC champions returned to campus late Friday night, putting an end to the two-week summer break that the players and coaching staff enjoyed. The Hurricanes are bringing back a top heavy roster filled with a ton of talent along the front seven and an offense that has a bevvy of talented and productive skill players.

The rest of the roster, however, is largely a question mark. Senior center Joel Dixon is the cornerstone of a rather inexperience and inconsistent offensive line while the secondary is looking to replace a ton of experience. To top it off, the game's most important position is with a first time full-time starter.

We learned a lot in spring but in fall is where starting spots are won and loss. Here are the positional battles that Hurricanes fans should be keeping an eye on as the opener is nearing:

Starting quarterback
Projected Depth Chart
#8 Keke Hagg, So | 6'2", 214lbs | 83 ovr, 85 spd, 85 acc, 96 thp, 89 sac, 85 mac, 83 dac
#15 Judd Anderson, Rs Jr | 6'6", 220lbs | 79 ovr, 76 spd, 70 acc, 96 thp, 84 thp, 85 mac, 88 dac
#11 Bernie Flowers, Fr | 5'11", 191lbs | 78 ovr, 86 spd, 90 acc, 94 thp, 87 sac, 83 mac, 74 dac

Everyone expect Keke Hagg to be the starter and he likely will be but it hasn't been formally announced. Until it does, this a battle that is bleeding into fall camp with Judd Anderson being a live underdog with his ability to drive the ball down the field.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where Hagg isn't the starter but Anderson is someone that the coaching staff has always been high on and in terms of trajectory, this is the season that they always viewed him as being ready to take that next step and be a starter.

Bernie Flowers impressed coaches with his processing speed and his athleticism throughout the spring, eventually taking first team reps by the end of spring football. Again, would be an upset if he's a starter but something to monitor.

Starting running back
Project Depth Chart
#25 Isaac Brown, Rs Jr | 5'9", 190lbs | 84 ovr, 92 spd, 96 acc, 98 cod, 83 car, 81 jkm
#24 Chris Johnson Jr, Rs Sr | 6'0", 180lbs | 83 ovr, 98 spd, 99 acc, 90 cod, 75 car, 84 jkm
#7 Maurice Rugamba, Jr | 6'0", 232lbs | 84 ovr, 92 spd, 90 acc, 85 cod, 87 car, 94 btk, 89 trk, 92 spm

They'll likely use all three at various parts of the game and the season as a whole but in terms of establishing a feature back, it's still unclear who that is going to be. Maurice Rugamba might have the most potential in terms of being a future NFL player and being able to do everything but Chris Johnson Jr. is the most explosive while Isaac Brown not only is the most experienced, Miami went out and got him from the transfer portal so they clearly felt that they needed him.

Brown's shiftiness stands out, even more so than Johnson who is a straight line speed guy. With an offensive line that might be patchy this season, someone that can make a guy miss and make plays on their own might be beneficial for this offense and give Brown the slight edge.

Starting slot receiver
Project Depth Chart
#0 Joshisa Trader, Sr | 6'1", 180lbs | 89 ovr, 93 spd, 94 acc, 97 cth, 86 cit
#3 Eric Incoom, Jr | 5'9", 204lbs | 87 ovr, 99 spd, 95 acc, 95 cth, 91 cit

The drops were a concern last year for Joshisa Trader, who returns for his senior season. He caught a career high 42 passes last year but only averaged 8.7 yards per reception, far from the explosive and dynamic receiver he was heralded to be coming out of high school.

Incoom, on the other hand, made the most of his opportunities, averaging 12 yards per reception for 449 yards and two touchdowns. He was a lot more sure handed than Trader while being the more dynamic option both in the quick game and as a deep threat coming out of the slot.

Starting left tackle
Project Depth Chart
#79 Deryc Plazz, Rs Jr | 6'4", 275lbs | 86 ovr, 82 str, 87 pbk, 83 rbk
#66 George Robledo, Rs So | 6'6", 314lbs | 84 ovr, 79 str, 85 pbk, 85 rbk
#67 Dominick Longo, Rs Fr | 6'5", 339lbs | 86 ovr, 95 str, 80 pbk, 80 rbk

A few different options here for Miami with fourth year junior Deryc Plazz patiently waiting his turn and developing behind the scenes. He's struggle to keep the weight on so how realistic can it be that a sub-300 pound left tackle can survive at the Power 4 level when the expectation is to be playing into January and February against bigger and stronger opponents for your most important games?

Miami likes Robledo, who is coming into his own and even considered starting him at left tackle last year before Markel Bell stabilized the position. The same can be said for Dominick Longo who is more of a right tackle type but could work on the left as well.

Starting right guard
Project Depth Chart
#75 Frankie Tinilau, Rs Sr | 6'6", 325lbs | 87 ovr, 98 str, 76 pbk, 80 rbk
#65 Richard Cookus, Rs So | 6'4", 289lbs | 88 ovr, 87 str, 85 pbk, 87 rbk

Franke Tinilau got the start in week nine of last year and it seemed like it was going to be his job for the rest of his Miami career but then struggled in the last two games of the year when it mattered most. This cracked the door for someone like Richard Cookus to slide in and challenge him throughout the spring, splitting reps with the senior as they head into fall camp.

Tinilau should still be considered the favorite to win this job as he did string together some very good performances last year but it's something to watch.

Starting strongside defensive end
Project Depth Chart
#90 Shaun Turner, So | 6'5", 293lbs | 82 ovr, 86 acc, 95 str, 77 pmv, 89 fmv, 77 bsh
#98 Elias Williams, Rs Jr | 6'4", 268lbs | 82 ovr, 85 acc, 84 str, 79 pmv, 80 fmv, 99 bsh

The move from defensive tackle to defensive end has been a natural one for former five-star Shaun Turner who does his best work when out in space, one-on-one with a defensive lineman. He needs to continue to improve his hand usage which is transfer Elias Williams' specialty with his technique and motor.

They're two different type of players as Williams is a bigger edge rusher while Turner is a smaller defensive tackle and with this being Skylor Magee's first year as DC for Miami, it's hard to predict which archetype he will prefer for this defense.

Miami lands first commitment of 2028 class with local blue chip safety Carl Godwin
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider

The Miami Hurricanes don't need to go far to find talented defensive backs, landing one of the top safeties in the country that's right in their backyard in Chaminda Madonna's Carl Godwin becoming the first member of the 2028 recruiting class.

Godwin, who played his freshman year at Northwestern High School before transferring to another powerhouse, is listed as six-foot-one and 196 pounds. Despite being a two-sport star that shines on the hardwood, Godwin is a physical defender that's not afraid to get into the box and help out in run support. He needs to clean up his technique in coverage as he can be a bit handsy once engaged in man-to-man situations with a receiver but the raw tools are there for him to develop him into a high level Power 4 starter.

2028 Miami Hurricanes Recruiting Class
Carl Godwin [FS #10]: 6'1", 196lbs | Miami, FL | 4-star

Miami Hurricanes release depth chart for season opener against Florida International
Eve Hartenstein-- South Florida Sun-Sentinel Beat Writer

MIAMI GARDENS — The Hurricanes released their first depth chart of the season and as expected, sophomore quarterback Keke Hagg is listed as the team's starter.

Hagg, who played in twelve games last year as a backup, beat out redshirt junior Judd Anderson for the starting job. Hagg is among four new starters on the offense, including fifth-year senior Samson Okunkola who is the team's starter at left tackle.

Okunlola is a former five-star that has taken the long road to finally being Miami's left tackle which is what he was projected to be coming out of high school. Okunlola struggled to get on the field early on and when he did, he did so out of position at guard and never solidified himself as he struggled and was eventually benched in favor of Juan Minaya who returns as a starter. It would be quite the finish for Okunlola who stuck with Miami, didn't transfer out and trusted the process if he's able to turn into the future first round pick that many thought he would be coming out of high school.

Defensively, Miami is starting four new players in their secondary in Elias Raines, Robby Washington, Zaquan Patterson and LaMarcus Cook. Washington, Patterson and Cook all played significant roles as rotational players last year but are set to take on bigger roles this season in Skylor Magee's first year as Miami's defensive coordinator.
