Patriots accept Christian Gonzalez's fifth-year option at $18 million
The New England Patriots have accepted former first round pick Christian Gonzalez's fifth-year option, extending the star corner through next season.

Gonzalez is set to make $18.1 million in 2027, a big jump from his $4.68 million salary this season and will likely serve as the floor for Gonzalez's upcoming extension. The former Oregon Duck had three interceptions last year with twelve pass breakups as he continues to build on his resume as one of the league's top corners.

The Patriots did not use their franchise tag for yet another season, which was expected. Among the notable players entering free agency include Ja'Whaun Bentley, Sione Takitaki and David Onyemata.

New England Patriots address their offensive line needs by selecting Cayden Green, the powerful guard out of Missouri. Green lacks the ideal size at six-foot but he's a powerful and athletic lineman that does a lot of things that project well in New England's offense.

Ideally, they'll get a tackle and move Mike Onwenu inside but that's going to be tough to do so with their 91st overall pick as the tackle run will likely be done by the second round with as many as fourteen offensive tackles expected to be drafted in the first two rounds.

Saints franchise tag WR Chris Olave as Mike Evans leads older crop of free agents
The New Orleans Saints have placed the franchise tag on Chris Olave at the eleventh hour, stopping the star receiver from hitting free agency at the hefty price tag of $31.5 million.

Olave was set to be the top free agent this offseason before the Saints decided to tag him, making former Bucs receiver Mike Evans the top available free agent in a class that includes a ton of veterans such as Tyrann Mathieu (34), Joel Bitonio (34) and Lavonte David (36).

There are some intriguing young players hitting free agency for the first time, including linebacker Nakobe Dean, cornerback Kyler Gordon and a pair of Packers receivers in Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson along with Buffalo's Khalil Shakir, who has really emerged in the past two seasons as Josh Allen's top target.

As usual, its a suppressed market at quarterback although Gardner Minshew, who led the Raiders to the playoffs, will look to cash in on his success for his first real pay day.
