Miami can afford to be picky in the transfer portal with much of next year's roster in tow
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The Miami Hurricanes signed two running backs out of the portal last year and even leading rusher Isaac Brown was a portal addition two seasons ago. The Hurricanes also landed top transfer portal target linebacker Hugh Benson who ended up being a key leader of the Hurricanes championship winning defense.
While the Hurricanes return a ton of talent, both running back and linebacker remain a position of need entering the portal with the graduation of four running backs and six linebackers, including four starters in Benson, Jacques Turk, Walt Coffey and Elias Rudolph in addition to top backup linebacker Isaiah Rugamba heading to the draft as a junior.
Miami has emerged as the early favorite for Michigan running back Aidan Teague, who was a four-star prospect out of IMG Academy before signing with the Wolverines. The Hurricanes had success with landing another Michigan running back in the portal last year in Micah Kaapana, who led the team in rushing. Teague is a sophomore with multiple years of eligibility left, similar to Brown when he left Louisville and signed with the Hurricanes.
At linebacker, the options are less clear with top inside linebacker Ezekiel McCracken likely heading to the SEC with visits scheduled to Georgia and Auburn, as well as in-state Georgia Tech while Liberty's Cliff Shelley, the only other linebacker ranked inside the top fifty, is trending towards an Ohio State/Cincinnati battle for the Ohio native.
With such a loaded roster when it comes to young talent that need snaps and playing time, the Hurricanes aren't likely to be shopping in the discount bin as they've been bitten in the past when going after such players that didn't account to much and took up a roster spot.

yessir, signed three receivers last cycle and I feel like the portal is always good for some running backs so focused on defense which is good since all the top defensive guys are locked out in the portal

Miami lands two of the top available transfers in Michigan's Aidan Teague, Rice's Marshall Chosen
Carlos Navarro -- The Athletic Staff Writer
Two of college football's top available transfers are returning to the Sunshine State with Michigan running back Aidan Teague and Rice defensive end Marshall Chosen picking the Hurricanes over a slew of SEC schools.
Teague, who has two years of eligibility left, was the top ranked running back in the portal and certainly one of its fastest. A four-star coming out of high school, the pedigree is certainly there for Teague to blossom into a star in a similar fashion that Isaac Brown did. Teague took visits to Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Auburn before picking Miami.
Marshall was the 25th ranked player in the portal, picking Miami over Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. An impressive looking athlete at six-foot-four and 279 pounds, Chosen has the versatility and physical traits to play multiple positions in Miami's defense, both in base and nickel. He primarily played at EDGE as Rice but could be asked to play some five-technique in Miami's base 3-4 defense and has the athleticism and experience to play one of the outside linebacker spots as well.
The Hurricanes are set to host another top twenty transfer in offensive tackle Jalen Browning, the Florida State transfer. He holds offers from Alabama and Tennessee.

Miami's ACC dominance continues with another top ranked recruiting class in the conference, top two class in the country
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
Mario Cristobal and his staff wrapped up National Signing Day with a top two recruiting class, finishing just a few points shy of the Georgia Bulldogs who earlier in the cycle got the better of Miami for a few top prospects, including five-star cornerback Alex Tercero. The Hurricanes also added three players from the transfer portal, all in the top twenty five, in running back Aidan Teague, offensive tackle Jalen Browning and defensive end Marshall Chosen.
Teague, the top ranked running back in the portal, rushed for 528 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore for Michigan in addition to 34 receptions for 310 yards. He is a similar player to Micah Kaapana, who the Hurricanes signed out of the portal from Michigan last year, and adds some much needed speed and explosiveness to Miami's backfield which is losing Kaapana and Andre Devine to graduation.
Browning started twenty five games for Florida State in the past two seasons, including all twelve last year. He's a solid, athlete offensive tackle that can play on either side but has primarily played right tackle with two years of eligibility left. Chosen had eight sacks for Rice last year and is entering his final year of eligibility.
The Hurricanes also added some high school recruits, adding some much needed depth at linebacker in three-stars Glenn Kohler and Quin Yusaf as well as signed another kicker in Greg Burns. Miami did have a hat on the table for linebacker Rickie Rhinehart, teammate of Miami safety Paul Rhinehart, but the linebacker chose Florida State over Miami and West Virginia.

Think the team improves despite the thinning at linebacker? Hopefully this team can repeat with Keke coming back
