Miam records an early ACC victory over Notre Dame following sleepy start
Miami quarterback Keke Hagg's pre-game speech went viral right before the kickoff for the Hurricanes' game against Notre Dame with the senior quarterback calling out the Fighting Irish, saying the Hurricanes weren't going to lose to a bunch of players from Indiana.
By the time Hagg touched the field, his Hurricanes were already down 14-0 after an opening drive touchdown and a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. The Hurricanes would rattle off thirty-five unanswered points to take down the Irish 45-24 in another dominating performance from Miami's offense.
Notre Dame had no answers for Hagg, who threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns with his lone blunder coming on an interception where Notre Dame defensive end Felix Rugamba -- brother of former Hurricanes Isaiah and Maurice Rugamba -- leaped up and intercepted an intended screen pass. Davon Momah led the way with 14 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown, breaking the school record with his 212th career reception. 2674 21 9080 86
Momah is now nearing Jeremiah Smith's record for career receiving yards, needing 43 yards to break the record. Hagg is now tied with Ken Dorsey for most career touchdowns, tying the record with a second half touchdown to Momah.
Notre Dame would make it a two score game with a fourth-down completion to Isaiah Erving in the fourth quarter but after the Hurricanes failed to convert a fourth down at the goal-line, Miami's defense would force a four-and-out where Aidan Teague would punch it in to end any hopes of a comeback. Miami lands a major target in five-star quarterback Terrance Harris as potential heir to the throne
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The University of Miami has beat out Georgia to land the commitment of Miami Central quarterback Terrance Harris, the fifth ranked quarterback this cycle and a top fifteen player nationally.
Harris emerged as Miami's top target at the quarterback position following an impressive showing at Legends Camp last summer where he got a chance to throw in front of Mario Cristobal and 'Canes offensive coordinator Chris Weinke. At that time, Miami was also interested in top-ranked quarterback Immanuel Bouchard, Tallahassee's Cam Knox, who is a top ten player national, and five-star quarterbacks Shyheim Wiggins and Juan Heurtelou but ultimately decided to go all in on Harris.
An electric athlete, Harris is the total package at quarterback with his speed, arm and decision making with elite processing skills. Harris is a quick decision maker and when he decides to turn into a runner, it's done without hesitation and with a lot of success, rushing for over 1,000 yards in his previous two seasons with the Rockets. He'll need to improve on his accuracy and consistency, particularly in the short to intermediate area, but the tools are there for Harris to be a future star at the next level.
Hurricanes jump up to top recruiting class with commitment from top ranked player in the country
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The number one recruit in the land is heading to Miami after five-star outside linebacker Alex York, who is playing out his senior year at IMG Academy, committed to the Hurricanes over Texas and USC.
York, who is originally from Arizona, fits Miami's base 3-4 defense perfectly as a JOKER linebacker with his ability to rush the passer as well as play out in space. Similar to Walt Coffey and Elias Rudolph in the past, York also has the versatility to set the edge as a defensive end in the Hurricanes' sub packages, which they play out of often. This is a major win for Miami's recruiting department, who got another out of state commitment from Chicago tight end Brian Killings.
Killings has the ideal size for a tight end at six-foot-five and 257 pounds with soft hands as a pass catcher and a willingness to be involved in the running game as a blocker. With his commitment and York's, Miami has the top ranked recruiting class.
York is among several IMG players that Miami is targeting, which also includes five-star running back Sammy Ramey and five-star cornerback Siaki Tu'ikolovatu. The Hurricanes are trending in a positive direction in their recruitment.
