Hurricanes open 2031 recruiting class with two commitments from the east coast of Florida
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The Miami Hurricanes have landed two commitments from four-star offensive lineman Dwayne Gideon and three-star receiver Rasheem Pelshak, their first two verbal commitments of their 2031 recruiting class.
Gideon is a top-80 prospect this cycle and the third ranked right guard in the country, hailing from Oakleaf High School in Jacksonville Florida, the same high school that produced several former Hurricanes such as another offensive lineman in Jalen Rivers.
A versatile and powerful athlete, Gideon projects to play either guard spots or potentially center at the next level. He lacks the ideal size at just six-foot-two and 298 pounds but his tenacity, punching power and efficiency as a run blocker makes an intriguing candidate to start for the Hurricanes down the line. The Hurricanes beat out Auburn and Georgia for his commitment.
Miami is taking a chance on an under-the-radar prospect in Pelshak, with Miami as his only D-I offer. He's an impressive looking athlete who plays with a level of physicality with the ability to play both on the outside and in the slot. He has a similar athletic profile and playing style as current Miami receiver Duke Cundiff with a knack for picking up tough yards after the catch and making contested catches.

Miami's IMG pipeline continues to bear fruit as IMG Academy teammates Tony Slye, Zach Ghee commit to the Hurricanes
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
Two of IMG Academy's top players are committing to the Miami Hurricanes with running back Tony Slye and tight end Zach Ghee both announcing their intentions to head south to Coral Gables to play for Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.
A versatile chest piece for IMG's offense, Ghee lines up everywhere for the Ascenders from H-back to outside receiver, with most of his snaps coming from the slot. He's played more and more inline tight end this year as a senior as he continues to fill in, weighing in at 242 pounds at IMG's Junior Day last year. He'll need to work on his physicality if he wants to be an every down player at the next level but his agility and soft hands make him an intriguing prospect and one of the better tight ends this cycle.
Slye, on the other hand, is as close to a finish product as you're going to find at the high school ranks. Already weighing in at 232 pounds, there are some similarities with current Miami running back Broderick Booker, who has been a key component of Miami's offense as a true freshman through two games. Slye doesn't have the juice that Booker has but his contact balance and play strength is very similar, which puts him in line to be an early contributor.
Slye picked Miami over Alabama and Ohio State while the Hurricanes beat out the Tide for Ghee.

Miami's recruiting momentum continues with three more commitments along the trenches
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The University of Miami has landed verbal commitments from three four-stars over the past forty-eight hours with offensive linemen T.J. Blue and Emanuel Vaccaro along with defensive line prospect Oscar Bermudez committing to the Hurricanes.
Blue, who picked Miami over Army and Arkansas, is the son of West Point graduates and strongly considered the Black Knights before choosing the in-state Hurricanes. One of the top prospects in the state, Blue is an athletic 300-pounder who shows the ability to consistently get to the second level, serving as a focal point for Orlando Edgewater's running game, leading them to back-to-back state title appearances.
Vaccaro is similarly highly ranked but more of a project at this stage of his development, needing to add more strength in order to hold up against SEC defensive lines. He's pretty advanced as a pass blocker and plays left tackle at the high school but his lack of height projects him to be an interior player at the next level, preferably center. In order to do so, Vaccaro will need to continue to get stronger and improve in the run game. Nebraska finished second in his recruitment.
The Hurricanes picked up a huge in-state win for Bermudez, beating out both Florida and Florida State for his commitment. A complete height-weight-speed freakshow, Bermudez has the athletic profile to play anywhere along Miami's defensive front, with experience already at nose tackle, which he's strong enough to play once he gets over the 300-pound threshold. The Hurricanes would also choose to slim Bermudez down and have him play the five-technique in their base 3-4.

Hurricanes clicking on all cylinders as they rout Arkansas in first SEC road trip
The Miami Hurricanes scored in every way possible on Saturday, scoring on the ground, through the air, on special teams and defense in their 52-14 rout of the Arkansas Razorbacks in the program's first ever SEC road game.
Miami rested its starters in the second half, giving true freshman Terrance Harris a chance for his college debut along with several others. Harris threw for 58 yards and a late touchdown and was impressive as a runner, breaking away from two would-be sacks and rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown. True freshman running back Broderick Booker rushed for 47 yards and true freshman linebacker Edward Verrier returned an interception for a touchdown.
In the first half, it was Miami's stars that got the Hurricanes the convincing lead, shutting out the Arkansas' offense until the final play of the half. Redshirt sophomore Nick Kahn had his first sack of the season, finishing the game with one and a half sack after being held without one in the first two games. Bernie Flowers completed ten of eleven passes for 109 yards, rushing for an additional 64 yards while Aidan Teague rushed for 102 yards on just eleven carries.
