New England to be without Chase Young, Christian Barmore and Travis Jones for 'couple weeks'
New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed to the media that defensive linemen Chase Young, Christian Barmore and Travis Jones will be sidelined for several games after all three key players left last week's game with injuries.
"We're probably talking about a couple of weeks for those guys," Mayo said of their availability after all three appeared on Wednesday's injury report with an OUT designation.
Barmore tore his abdomen, according to Mayo, while both Young and Jones suffered shoulder injuries that Mayo says won't require surgery. The Patriots have promoted defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse from their practice squad and signed free agent Ty'Ron Hopper. Receiver Tobias Merriweather and tight end Oronde Gadsden II have been moved to the practice squad to free up the roster space.
Stackhouse was drafted by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and appeared in all seventeen games as a rookie before being part of the roster cuts heading into the season, finding a spot on New England's practice squad. As a rookie, he played 171 snaps, almost exclusively at nose, and recorded four tackles. He projects to be part of New England's plan to replace Jones, along with Raymond Vohasek who played a season high 25 snaps against Chicago following Jones' injury. He had not played more than seven snaps in any other game.
Hopper was a third round pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 draft before being released by the Packers and signed by the Bears last season. He had twenty two tackles last season and appeared in eight games for Chicago before being cut by the Bears earlier this week.

That's what made the near second half shutout impressive, had backups all over the place against the Bears for the final stretch

yeah tyreek is about to cook us. we struggle against him with out regular defense so with essentially no pass rush and me at some point likely being forced to user a corner thats covering him (house rules require that I user the last player that made a tackle, pass breakup, etc.), its GGs in the chat
