New England Patriots receiver Christian Watson sidelined with injured groin
The New England Patriots will be without top receiver Christian Watson for 'several weeks' according to head coach Jerod Mayo as he recovers from a groin injury he suffered last week against Green Bay.

Watson had arguably his worst game as a Patriot last week against Green Bay, being held without a catch for the first time this year after coming up three straight games with at least 100 yards and a touchdown. He pulled up lame on a blocking play and left the game in the fourth quarter and did not return.

The loss of Watson is a major one for the Patriots as he leads the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns, where he is second in the league with nine. No other receiver, outside of newly acquired Stefon Diggs, has more than 21 receptions. It'll be interesting to see how the Patriots handle Watson's absence with the only other clear outside receiver being Javon Baker.

Baker's played 380 snaps this season with fourteen receptions for 181 yards and a touchdown. Baker showed flashes last season with six touchdown catches, replacing the oft-injured Barion Brown.

Joe Milton unlikely catalyst in Patriots' comeback win over Lions on Turkey Day
New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton won't be buying a home in Michigan any time soon. The once highly touted prospect signed with the University of Michigan out of high school before failing to live up to expectations and transferring to the University of Tennessee. Trailing 24-7 to the Detroit Lions and serving as Drake Maye's quarterback, Milton would come into the game for one play as Maye rolled his ankle on an eleven-yard scramble. Milton would unleash a 65-yard bomb to Oscar Delp, kickstarting New England's eventual 27-24 comeback win over the Lions on Thanksgiving.

"Joe [Milton] and [Lavonte David] got us that game," Maye said after the game, connecting with Stefon Diggs for a touchdown on the very next play following Milton's bomb to Delp.

Lavonte David would turn back the clock, sacking Zach Wilson and stripping him of the football for a safety to cut the lead to eight entering the fourth quarter. David had a first quarter interception of Jared Goff, who left the game with a back injury and would return in the fourth quarter, a decision Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he felt was for the betterment of the team.

Wilson had thrown a touchdown in his first pass of the game and then hooked up with Jameson Williams before the end of the first half on a busted coverage but since then, Detroit's offense had been shutout. Even with Goff back in the game, the lead now cut to five following an Andres Borregales field goal, Detroit's offense struggled to get anything going as Goff threw back to back incompletions to punt the ball to New England with six minutes left.

The Patriots would have their best, most consistent drive of the night that lasted seventeen plays, beginning all the way from their own one-yard line. Rhamondre Stevenson would convert two third and ones after previously being stuffed on fourth down in the first half in Detroit's red zone to get the ball to the Detroit 45-yard line with two minutes left.

Maye would complete three straight completions of thirteen, ten and six yards and then scrambled to get the ball inside Detroit's six-yard line with 38 seconds left. Two plays later, he found Diggs for the game winning touchdown, his thirtieth of the season.
