Patriots Round-Up: Drake Maye's MVP push, Keion White's contract and the 'boys are back in town'
The New England Patriots are in the midst of a seven game winning streak, pushing them right smack in the middle of the battle for the AFC's top seed.

The Patriots host Miami this weekend before going on their week fourteen bye prior to a tough stretch where they'll play Buffalo, Kansas City and end the season in Minneapolis in a stretch that will ultimately decide their playoff fates. While New England has likely secured a playoff spot already, this final slate of games might be the difference between having to play Kansas City or Baltimore in the earlier rounds or having a more favorable matchup.

Drake Maye's MVP odds continue to rise
Drake Maye is now fourth in MVP odds according to DraftKings Sports behind J.J. McCarthy, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes. Maye was an MVP finalist last year, rushing for over 1,000-yards and throwing for forty-five touchdowns.

Maye likely won't match last year's totals as he missed two games with an injury but he's still on track to finish the year with forty-five passing touchdowns, throw for nearly 3,800 yards and rush for over 800 yards. Even with the missed games, Maye is tied with McCarthy for most passing touchdowns and has better rushing numbers than Jackson. With upcoming games against McCarthy and Mahomes, along with Josh Allen, Maye will certainly have the platform needed for a late MVP push.

Keion White is going to get paid. Will it be by New England?
An underrated performer in New England's comeback win over Detroit was Keion White, who recorded a sack and graded out very well on Pro Football Focus, his third games in the high 80s in the last four weeks.

White chose a great time to turn it up as he's up to eight sacks on the year, closing in on his first double-digit season. A versatile defensive lineman that is starting to turn into a productive pass rusher, White's value on the open market might be worth his weight in gold as players with his skillset are highly sought after.

PFF's latest contract projection has White signing a three year, $60 million deal that would have him average $20M per year. This could make sense for the Patriots as their top paid pass rusher Chase Young is at $23.2 million while Uche is at $8.43 million. With them getting Uche at such a discount, it does open the door for the Patriots to re-sign White around the $20 million range.

While Uche was had for cheap, Christian Barmore was not. With a $24.5 million salary hit next year, the Patriots would be spending a lot of money on their defensive line, especially after signing Travis Jones to a four year, $48.8 million this past offseason. This would make it three consecutive offseasons that the Patriots have invested heavily on new deals for the defensive line and with Maye and Christian Gonzalez coming up for mega extensions, the Patriots could opt for flexibility instead.

New England gets their defensive line back for rematch against the Dolphins
Travis Jones, Christian Barmore and Chase Young are all off the injury report, a strong indicator that the trio will be back for New England when they play Miami this week. The Patriots have been without three of their best defensive players for the past three games as they recovered from injury.

DeAngelo Malone has been solid in Young's absence but the return of a true pass rusher at that position should bolster New England's defense which struggled in that first half against Detroit before they got it going, aided by Jared Goff's injury. Barmore and Jones should also help solidify that pass rush as well as improve their rushing defense which has been leaky at times.

Drake Maye dazzles as Pats extend winning streak in win over Dolphins
New England Patriots rookie tight end Nyck Harbor recovered the onside kick with thirty seconds left in the game to seal New England's 29-21 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, extending the Patriots winning streak to eight games.

Tua Tagovailoa's second scrambling touchdown in the final minute of the game made the score closer than the game was as the Patriots pulled away in the final quarter of the game. Leading 16-14 entering the fourth, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye saved his best drive for when it mattered the most, taking the Patriots 93-yards in eight plays, seven of which were passing plays and only one incompletion that came on a drop. He had completions of 29 and 34 yards before finding Stefon Diggs on back-to-back plays inside the Miami 10-yard line to extend their lead to two possessions.

The Dolphins would go four-and-out on the ensuing possession, turning the ball over on downs after Tagovailoa's pass to Devone Achane was stopped short of the first down by Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who only surrendered one catch the entire game and was matched up with Tyreek Hill for most of the game.

Diggs would score a second touchdown with 3:15 left to make it 29-14.

Barion Brown, Josh Uche and Keion White expected to miss the rest of the regular season with injuries
The New England Patriots are on a bye this week but head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed to the media that receiver Barion Brown, edge rusher Josh Uche and versatile defensive lineman Keion White are all expected to miss the rest of the regular season following injuries in the win over the Miami Dolphins.

Brown and White dislocated their ankle, according to Mayo, while Uche dislocated his elbow. Mayo added that he is optimistic that the three players should be back in time for the playoffs, especially if New England is able to secure a bye week.

The Brown injury is mitigated by the fact that Christian Watson is expected to be back from his groin injury by the time the Patriots play Buffalo, essentially swapping Brown for Watson, one of the league's most productive receivers prior to his injury. The Patriots are also getting back Leonard Williams to help ease the loss of White and have also signed defensive Myles Cole from the Jaguars' practice squad and released offensive guard Jeremiah Byers.

A seventh round pick in 2024, Cole had nine tackles and a tackle for loss with the Jaguars last year before spending this season on their practice squad.
