New England Patriots officially rule out Christian Gonzalez, Christian Watson and Barion Brown for the Super Bowl
The New England Patriots will be without two of their top players in cornerback Christian Gonzalez and wide receiver Christian Watson, who join receiver Barion Brown and cornerback Marcus Jones on the injury report as being ruled out for the Super Bowl against the Dallas Cowboys.
Gonzalez, Watson and Brown suffered injuries in the practices leading up to the game, leaving the Patriots without their two top corners in Gonzalez and Jones and their leading receiver in Watson. With the injury to Watson, Stefon Diggs' matchup against his younger Travon Diggs will now be an even bigger match up for New England.
The Patriots have promoted receivers Tobias Merriweather and Jayden Gibson from their practice squad and signed free agent cornerback J.C. Jackson, who previously played with the Patriots from 2018 until 2021 and then rejoined the Patriots for a brief stint in 2023. All three new signings will not only most likely be active but will more than likely play in the game, along with cornerback Michael Jackson that was signed last week.

That secondary crazy too, goddamn.

at full health, i felt like it was 50/50 proposition. no Gonzo, no Marcus Jones to take away Isaiah Bond and now offensively, we have no deep threat. might be GGs in the chat unless we play a disgusting brand of ball control football. i haven't decided yet.

Hunter Henry earns Super Bowl MVP as Patriots bring the Lombardi back to Foxborough
Drake Maye's first ever NFL touchdown pass was thrown to tight end Austin Hooper. In Maye's first season in the NFL, tight end Hunter Henry led the team in receptions and finished second behind only Cooper Kupp in Maye's second season despite missing several games.
Maye loves his tight ends and Henry came through on Sunday, scoring an improbable 69-yard touchdown in the first quarter and then scoring the pivotal touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Patriots beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-19 in Atlanta to win the franchise's seventh Super Bowl.
Despite being down two starting corners in Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones, New England's defense completely blanketed Dallas' offense that were held without a touchdown entering the fourth quarter as the Patriots held on to a one-point lead. Maye would convert a third-and-seven with a completion to Henry to get the ball to the Cowboys' 25-yard line followed by a ten-yard completion to another tight end in Oscar Delp and then two plays later, on third and six, Maye went back to Henry for the eleven yard touchdown.
It was Henry's second touchdown of the night, eventually taking home the Super Bowl MVP. His first touchdown was one for the ages as Maye found him near the sidelines after scrambling out of the pocket. Cowboys safety Malik Hooker dove for the deflection and when he failed to reach the football, it left Henry by himself up the Dallas sideline with Trevon Diggs giving chase.
Diggs, who is the brother of Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs, would reach Henry who dragged him into the endzone for the score. Diggs would get an interception while his brother had a quiet day, catching four passes for twenty yards.
With the eight point deficit, the pressure turned up on Dak Prescott and Dallas' offense, who went three-and-out on the next possession following an early down sack. Maye would then orchestrate an eleven play drive, extended by a 22-yard completion to Henry on third and four. It ended with Rhamondre Stevenson punching it in with six minutes left in the game, effectively sealing the victory. Stevenson's on the next possession after a Cowboys turnover on down from the 50-yard line would allow the Cowboys to score a late touchdown with seven seconds left to make the final score closer.
