If we can avoid imploding with turnovers, I think we're the favorites. Last year was the 1st time I'd lost to Ball State being on the otherside (If Ball State and my user team play I always control user).
Ball State has more wins over ranked teams
Outside of Ole Miss the SEC slate for Texas was pretty weak, whereas Ball State went through Top 10 ranked Ohio State, Penn State, top 15 Cincy, and Syracuse who just dropped out of the top 10 after B2B losses.
And Texas is coming off a two week bye, anytime I have a team on a bye late in the season they always get jumped in the polls. This chise was started in December? Or January. Somewhere around there.

In front of a packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium crowd, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns erupted for 21 fourth-quarter points to pull away from Georgia and claim a 42-24 victory in the SEC Championship Game—their first conference title since 2031. Texas opened the game sluggish, struggling to find any rhythm offensively and falling into a quick 14-0 hole before even picking up a first down. “It was at a point where we had to make a play, or risk the game spiraling out of control,” Texas offensive coordinator Colt McCoy said postgame. “I pulled Mo aside and told him—this is your moment. Let it rip.”

On the ensuing drive, he fired a 49-yard strike to tight end Tyler Biggs, then followed it up with completions to Miguel Jerman and backup running back Earl Petty to march the Longhorns into scoring position. Lee Vela capped the drive with a 4-yard touchdown, awakening a previously dormant Texas offense.
After both defenses stiffened briefly, Uwazurike struck again, this time with a 67-yard seam shot to Biggs to set up Vela’s second touchdown—tying the game at 14 and flipping momentum squarely in Texas’ favor.
Georgia responded with their longest drive of the day—10 plays and nearly five minutes off the clock—culminating in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Atwell to Cole Soto in the corner of the end zone. It gave the Bulldogs a 21-14 lead with just 50 seconds remaining in the half.
But that was 50 seconds too many for Uwazurike.
The senior QB launched a 71-yard bomb to Jerman, who was dragged down by his shoelaces inside the five. After two short gains, Texas faced a 4th-and-1 from the three-yard line with seven seconds left.
“No hesitation,” Savage said postgame when asked if he considered kicking the field goal. “This group earned that trust.”
Uwazurike took the snap and followed center Greg Augustine into the end zone for the game-tying score as time expired, sending the Texas sideline into a frenzy.
The third quarter turned into a defensive chess match. Georgia cornerback Jamerson Baker snagged an interception, setting up a 36-yard field goal that gave the Bulldogs a 24-21 edge—their final lead of the game.
Uwazurike responded by engineering his signature drive of the season: an 18-play, 82-yard marathon that chewed up 7 minutes and 17 seconds. He converted two 4th downs along the way and capped it off with a fearless leap over the pile on a QB keeper, reclaiming the lead at 28-24 with just over five minutes remaining.
From there, the Texas defense slammed the door.
Freshman DE James Mosely delivered a critical sack on Georgia’s next possession, forcing a 4th-and-3 from their own 29. Bulldogs coach Jay Sawvel opted to punt and rely on his defense.
“We had timeouts and a good punt game. I played the numbers,” Sawvel said. “Unfortunately, I lost.”
It took just two plays for Texas to make him regret the decision.
Uwazurike hit Jerman on a 28-yard gain, then found Santiago DeCastro on a gorgeous double move for a back-breaking touchdown—stretching the lead to 35-24. After a turnover on downs, Texas tacked on one final score, and sealed the win with their first interception of the game on Georgia’s last gasp drive.

Negative, Coach Savage is on his 2nd season at Texas. We lost to Ball State in the Quarterfinals last year. When he was at Syracuse we faced the Cardinals in the Natty in 2031, Savage's final year there. After that Kadin took over Ball State and Savage went to Georgia.
