Best Chiser Series - 8/17/25 Rankings

Welcome to the first edition of the Best Chiser Series (BCS) Standings. Since I am out of commission for chising for a bit I decided that I would work on this and it was a fun little project. Just as the BCS is a non-perfect system my system is not what I would use to crown the best chiser but that's why we have a playoff and voting. More so this is just looking at data and generating some conclusions from that data.

I have worked through several iterations of my algorithm. The base statistics I gather from each threads are posts by the thread creator, comments made by other posters, replies to those comments from the thread creator, and the unique number of commenters in each thread. It became clear to me as I tried different solutions that going purely based on numbers the best way to measure a chise was engagement. Therefore I built my very simple formula off that engagement. Three items are used in the algorithm: comments, replies, and unique commenters. It is still likely that I might tweak the algorithm but I like where it's at for now. Each ranking is normalized between 1.000 and 0 similar to the BCS rankings and then the rankings are averaged to give a total score. Finally the scores are then sorted for the rankings.

I will be posted and tracking four different rankings. There will be a "overall" ranking, this is the "Chise Madness" ranking starting at the period of 2/1/2025 and continuing up until the Sunday of the post. That will have rankings for both threads and chisers. Then I will also post a "weekly" ranking that covers the past week, Sunday to Sunday. That will provide interesting insight into how things are going on a more granular basis.

Some other notes, if I included just posts I think Xixak is our top chiser and his Ingolstadt chise is the top chise.

I was not familiar with CC's game in his CFB chise for Xavier. I'm not sure if I ever commented in it and I feel bad now.

I like doing the weekly rankings as well because it just shows that anyone can be on top during any given week.
