Kennesaw State head coach Bubba Mack says he's focused on Clemson,
not 'potential opportunities' as Georgia Tech job looms
By Lamar O'Neal
December 15, 2027
Kennesaw State head coach Bubba Mack had his first press availability since reports of him being hired to be Georgia Tech's next head coach had surfaced. As expected, Mack sidestepped those questions and said that he was focused on the task at hand as the Owls are getting ready to play Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
"We've got a huge opportunity here that we've worked tremendously hard for," Mack said of the matchup against the No. 5 Tigers, "I'm focused on [Clemson] and not any potential opportunities that may or may not be out there."
The Atlanta Journal Constitution and ESPN have both reported that Mack had accepted the head coaching job at Georgia Tech and that a contract is in the works. The expectation is that the contract will be finalized upon the end of Kennesaw State's season and that Mack will coach the team throughout the playoffs.
Mack did concede that he's had 'talks' with the athletic department about his future but that he remains committed to coaching the team.
"I'm the head coach of the Kennesaw State Owls. When and if that changes, we can have those discussions but for now, we're here to talk about Clemson and the great opportunity that's ahead of us."

As first reported by The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Kennesaw State head coach Bubba Mack held a "program wide" meeting on Monday morning when he communicated to his staff and players that he intends to take the head coaching job at Georgia Tech. The meeting ended just minutes before the news was broken by Pete Thamel, College Football Senior Writer for ESPN, that a deal was being finalized between both parties.

Dabo CHASED Bubba out of town with that whooping. Georgia Tech might rescind that offer after that showing.
