May 1st, 2025 - LaLiga Update

Valladolid have all but secured Europe heading into the final month of the season.
With just five games remaining in the season, Real Valladolid need just 4 points to secure a place in European football next year for the first time since 1998. The club sit 5th, just 4 points shy of a place in next year's UEFA Champions League and are currently set to play in the Europa League if things end as they are today. Cesc Fabregas has had a superb first season with the boys to date, playing fluid possession football (they have been over 60% possession in almost every match this year), while being the third best attack in the league with 74 goals. Raul Moro and Alvaro Aceves in particular continue to have standout seasons, with the former likely to walk away with the league assist title at 14 and Aceves climbing the clean sheet charts to move up to 10 on the season.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid have continued to dominate the league this year, losing just 1 game and sitting 10 points clear of second place Barcelona. The duo of Mbappe and Vinicius Junior have linked up brilliantly this year, and the two are directly competing with each other (and Julián Alvarez) for the golden boot. In the relegation battle, there are arguably still 7 sides involved with RC Celta all but assured of the drop this year, and CD Leganés just 5 points clear of 18th place Getafe. Valladolid play a few of these teams in the last month, so expect there to be some testy contests as they face sides fighting for survival while they battle for placement in Europe.
Valladolid's schedule for the remainder of the year is as follows:
- 5/3/2025: vs. FC Barcelona (2nd)
- 5/10/2025: @ RCD Mallorca (13th)
- 5/13/2025: vs. Girona FC (8th)
- 5/18/2025: vs. Deportivo Alaves (19th)
- 5/25/2025: @ CD Leganes (14th)
