Trey Owens at SMU? :metsnbd:

You guys are winning with classic Beamer Ball, but at some point the offense is going to need to open up to keep the wins rolling you feel

Yeah man i agree, if we cant pass the ball and get the weapons at wideout going we will be in for a tough season, this next 3-4 weeks is actually brutal for us.

🔁 Virginia Tech’s Quarterback Carousel Finds a Front-Runner in Brock Frederick

The Hokies’ quarterback battle has been one of the defining storylines of the young season, and after three games it’s been as unpredictable as ever. Harold Gammon has been the most efficient passer, completing 65% of his throws for 270 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. William Watson III has brought a spark on the ground, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown, but his passing numbers (19 of 34, 132 yards, one TD, one fumble) haven’t separated him from the pack. Both showed flashes, but neither managed to lock down the job.

That all changed in Virginia Tech’s nail-biting 27–24 win over SMU. Brock Frederick, once viewed as a long-shot contender, delivered a breakout performance that has reshaped the quarterback conversation. The dual-threat sophomore threw for 174 yards, ran for 79 more, and accounted for two touchdowns, giving the Hokies’ offense the balance and explosiveness it had been missing. His poise under pressure and ability to extend plays turned drives that might have stalled into scoring chances, a difference-maker in a game decided in the final minutes.

Frederick’s rise has created clarity where there was once only rotation and uncertainty. Gammon’s accuracy and Watson’s athleticism still give the Hokies depth at the position, but Frederick has shown he can carry the team with his legs while keeping defenses honest through the air. For a program that has been searching for a steady hand under center, his emergence could not have come at a better time.

Head Coach Brent Pry ended the speculation this week: Brock Frederick will start against #6 Clemson. It’s a bold call with a top-10 opponent looming, but after watching Frederick energize the offense against SMU, the Hokies believe they may finally have found the playmaker capable of leading them into the heart of ACC play.

Those failed 2-point conversions must have really stung. Really hung close in that one
