Delaware Football Head Coach Involved in Large Drug Bust
by Cornelius Deeznutson | June 19, 2025

Los Angeles, CA – An FBI-led search was commenced in an eastern Los Angeles neighborhood Monday night. FBI agents executed a search warrant in which they arrested six individuals and also seized over 10 pounds of fentanyl, 50 firearms, and approximately $800,000 in cash. One of the suspects was revealed to be Delaware football head coach Ryan Carty.

Ryan Carty is a well known name in the UD fanbase. Carty was the backup quarterback for Delaware when they won the national championship in 2003. After graduating, he started his coaching career as a tight end coach at New Hampshire in 2007. He would climb the ranks there and eventually became the offensive coordinator, which he held the role until 2017. After three years working as the OC for Sam Houston State which included helping them win their first national championship title, he would return to Delaware in 2021 as the head coach. In his three seasons as head coach for the Blue Hens, they went 26-11 with two playoff appearances where they both lost in the second round.

In the upcoming college football season, Delaware is raring to go in their debut as a FBS program. Unfortunately for Carty, it looks like his coaching career is now over. He has been charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Two of the other suspects were revealed to be offensive coordinator Terrence Archer and defensive coordinator Manny Rojas. Carty's coordinators are each charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

"I'm speechless," Delaware interim athletic director Jordan Skolnick said in the press conference this morning. "To think these three people who I thought were upstanding human beings would do something like that. I'm in absolute shock."

In a little more than two months away from the start of the season, the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens are without their head coach and offensive and defensive coordinators. Will they even be able to play this season, let alone continue as a football program?

Thanks, JZA. My love for the chise game is too strong to keep me away forever. I had way too many ideas cooking the past year, but I gotta actually enjoy playing the game first :drose:

De-rusting myself with something light before I go back to the big guns

I needed to change it up from killing off people lol. I would've done a normal firing if the coach was struggling, but this man was not leaving this program any time soon

We might be seeing some disciplinary actions in this ish :mischief:
