Tottenham Hotspur Secure €13.6 Million Deal for Argentine Fullback Valentín Barco
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to a €13.6 million transfer with Racing Club de Strasbourg for Argentine fullback Valentín Barco, bolstering their defensive options as Barco will join the team during the winter transfer window.
He made his professional debut for Boca Juniors in 2021 and quickly gained recognition for his dynamic performances before joining Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of around €10 million. However, after limited appearances, he was loaned out to Sevilla in August 2024, followed by a loan move to Racing Club de Strasbourg in February 2025. Strasbourg exercised their purchase option, signing Barco permanently in July 2025 for €10 million.
Barco is known for his versatility, primarily operating as a left-back but also capable of playing as a left-winger or central midfielder. His agility, pace, and technical skills enable him to support attacking plays while maintaining defensive solidity. Barco's adaptability and flair make him a valuable asset for the Spurs seeking to enhance their full-back options.
The miss with Xavi was diabolical. However, the overall finishing seems to have improved. Hopefully you can keep it up when you are playing a stronger side whose back line you don't demolish.
