LOS ANGELES (CA) Stephen Curry scored 16 points, Buddy Hield added 14 points off the bench and the Golden State Warriors overcame Luke Doncic’s 33-point performance to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 101-92 on Tuesday night in both teams’ season opener.

LeBron James missed a season opener for the first time in his 23 years in the NBA, watching from the Lakers’ bench. The top scorer in league history has sciatica that is expected to sideline him until mid-November.

Jimmy Butler III was held to six points, battling foul trouble all night, but hit a crucial 3-pointer down the stretch, while the Warriors shut down the Lakers apart from Doncic, who scored 30 points or more for the 207th time in his NBA career and 16th since joining the Lakers.

Doncic added 12 rebounds and eight assists in his first season opener with the Lakers, as Los Angeles lost its season opener for the ninth time in 10 years.

Curry began his 17th season going 2-of-16 from the three-point line as most of the offensive load was led by Green and Heild.

Austin Reaves finished with 20 points on 8-of-19 from the field.

Golden State maintained a lead in the second half until the Lakers took their first lead since early in the second quarter.

Deandre Ayton finished with six points, but pulled down a game-high 20 rebounds in his Lakers debut, while Marcus Smart finished with six points and six assists.

Doncic needs more help if the Lake Show is going to stay afloat until LBJ returns

Yeah, opening night was a hard pill to swallow. But here is an even tougher pill. The free agency bug carrys over into MyNBA which means you can sign any player to a two-way contract that is a free agent and if you sign a player that is a free agent you can only sign him for one season at a time. This has been a game issue since the game was released and here we are three months later and 2K has yet to address the problem or fix it making it so hard for custom rosters to be done and for any MyNBA to be played. So hopefully this issue is fixed hopefully before they leave for Xmas but until it is I have to put this on pause. On the bright side it will allow me to work on some great page art for when I get back to this.

After some further testing I have found that whatever the bug is that causes problems with creating a custom roster DOES NOT carry over into the MyNBA game mode so knowing that I simply restarted so the wait is over and this MyNBA is proceeding forward.

Luka dazzles with 36 points

LUKA DONCIC SCORES 36 TO EXTEND HIS SIZZLING SEASON START IN LAKERS’ 128-110 WIN

LOS ANGELES (CA) Luka Doncic scored 36 points, leading the Lakers to a 128-110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

Doncic followed his 33-point game in an opening night loss to Golden State with his highest-scoring effort of the early season, going 13 for 26 with five 3-pointers while adding 11 rebounds and nine assists.

The Slovenian superstar also made all five of his free throws and through two games is averaging 34.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists while shooting 51% from the field, 38% from the 3-point line and 86% from the foul line.

Julius Randle scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Jaden McDaniels had 17 for Minnesota, which couldn’t slow the Lakers’ offense in a rematch of last season’s first-round playoff series won in five games by the Wolves.

Austin Reaves added 27 points, eight assists and four rebounds, while Rui Hachimura scored 15 and Marcus Smart had 12 for the Lakers.

Doncic mildly injured his groin in the Lakers’ opener and he hurt his left hand in the opening moments against Minnesota, grabbing at it repeatedly while bent over in pain.

Bronny James made his season debut for the Lakers, playing the final 3:14 and made his only shot in the game.
