Coach Sark was hard at work this season landing 29 Recruits (5-5*,19-4* 5-3*) edging out Georgia and Nebraska for the #1 Overall Class. Of the 29 players 23 are high school recruits well they sign just 6 players out of the Portal but 1 of those signings hits very close to home in Boise as former QB/WR Tyrone Waddle joins the team, as well as a trio of 4* RB's.

NCAA MAKES CHANGES FOR 2033

It's Official, NCAA Commish Ryne Scott has announced for the 2033 and 2034 season Conferences will no longer have North/South Divisions. The Conference Championships now about who is the best 2 teams in each conference. This could mean that we could potentially see a Oregon vs Boise State Pac-12 Championship, a Georgia/Miami ACC Battle and a Alabama/LSU SEC showdown or how about a rematch of Ohio State vs Michigan for the Big Ten title or Penn State vs Notre Dame or Pitt. Conference schedules will be random and games can start as early as Week 1.

"It's a 2 year trial as 2035 we were already scheduled to look at Re-Alignment as a whole and decide if moves like Georgia/Florida to the ACC was the right decision. At the end of the day our goal is to have more teams be able to compete for a chance to be in the Top-12 at the end of the y ear and for a chance to play for a National Title. Conference Championships need to be more important. Last year proved that that Divisions can work as we see #3 Miami vs # Clemson in the ACC but is it fair for a 1 loss Oregon team to have no shot at Top-4 seed because they lost to Boise State during the regular season fair? I don't know. Now that could change.. Same with Ohio State vs Michigan.. A loss in Week 14 could be a killing blow to a team making the playoffs but now if those same 2 teams have a rematch 2 weeks later and the original loser now wins,, that could change the opinion of the poll voters and the selection committee."

Scott also announced that several teams are going to be making some conference changes for the upcoming season.

Virginia is leaving the ACC and joining former ACC member Wake Forest in the American.. The American is also adding Old Dominion who spent the last 3 years as a Independent.

UConn after back to back 10+ win including their 12-0 season and CUSA title is going to make the jump to the ACC well Syracuse is leaving the ACC for CUSA where they will be joined by Rutgers who is leaving the Big Ten

BYU is leaving the MWC after 2 titles and will replace Fresno State in the Pac-12 with the Bulldogs going back to the MWC in hopes of rebuilding their program (66 Overall)

"At the end of the day it's our hopes for every school to have the opportunity to compete and put a team capable of winning on the field. Watching schools go 0-8 or 1-7 in conference play is not good for the conference, the school or the fan base.. It is our plan to make major changes in 2035 but again a few of these programs have already shown that a change need to be made now vs waiting another 2 years to make. With no more divisions within Conferences, we no long feel the need to keep conferences even with 12/14/16 teams but instead can have conferences with 13 teams if it's a better fit. The plan is to have all conferences play a at least 9 conference games allowing for 3 out of conference matchups each season."

I missed out on 10 players in the portal in the last week. I was hitting the 0-lIne hard and didn't come away with a single player. I also had 2 other RB's and another WR I really wanted but was happy with the guy's we got..

Ezra Neighbors was a guy who had BSU #3 at the beginning of the year but instantly put up the deal breaker saying playing time was important and listed BSU as a F Grade. I kept him on the big board but could really recruit him, so I went after some other guy's who all signed elsewhere. Honestly had I know I was going to get Exum in the Portal I probably would've pulled the scholarship and had him sign at UNC, where he would've had a chance to compete for a starting job.

For now the plan is to do a encourage transfer with Kyle Gowen the transfer I got from Oklahoma last year allowing him to go somewhere so he can start or at least be in line to start as he is a RS JR. Barksdale will be the #1 and Neighbors and Exum will both be active and have a chance to play.. I will probably try and get Neighbors in at least games and give him the start against a non-conference opponent or 2 and then potentially still redshirt him just so I have a year of him as a starter if I can keep him happy.

The 2033 Top-25 Pre-Season Poll starts with your usual suspects, BYU making the Top-25 at #25 and UConn starting the year as #26 over schools like Florida State and Tennessee as well as USC and Ole Miss is probably the biggest thing that stands out. With 6 teams from the Pac-12 starting the year in the Top-25 and USC on the cusp, it will be interesting to see how the new no divisions play out.. Could we finally see a new Pac-12 Champion crowned or will Boise State win their 7th straight and extend their playoff streak to 9 years.

2033 MEDIA GUIDE PART I

MILLER IN YEAR 4 OF 5 YEAR EXTENSION

Coach Matt Miller enters Year 4 of a 5 year extension he signed after leading Boise State to back to back National Titles in 2028 and 2029.. Miller is 86-8 since taking over as the Boise State HC.. Of his 8 loss's 7 of them have come against Top-25 ranked opponents and 4 of those loss's have come playing in the College Football playoffs. Miller has guided the Broncos to 7 straight Pac-12 titles since taking over starting in 2027. Miller turned down multiple high profile jobs like USC and Penn State last season and has turned down Ohio State in the past as well, leaving some to wonder if the former Bronco WR/OC and now HC will ever leave "The Blue"

BRONCOS LOSE 2 TO FALL PORTAL

Despite a somewhat small class in today's terms of recruiting (22 players) Coach Miller came away with 2 key additions at QB and 3 talented RB's to replace Cam Hooks, Brian Crum and company however Miller was dealt another blow in Fall camp as both QB Kyle Gowen and RB Drew Waller asked for their release and joined the fall Portal.

Gowen a former Oklahoma transfer threw for over 3000 yds for the Sooners in 2031 but then hit the portal after losing his starting job only to join Boise State as the Broncos #2. with hopes of replacing Hooks for his final 2 years of eligibility. However after getting jumped by former 5* Tobias Barksdale and then seeing Miller bring in both UAB transfer Nathan Exum and another 5* QB in Ezra Neighbors, Gowen hit the portal once more landing at Wyoming where he is expected to be the starter for the Cowboys this season.

Waller a former 5* and the #1 RB in the 2031 Class, redshirted as a True Freshman and spent most of the year last season sharing the #3 RB role with Senior Tyler Fry but down the stretch in the final 2 games of the season and the playoffs, Waller was pretty much MIA leaving many to wonder if he would return.. He hinted at joining the portal in the spring but returned after being promised a chance to compete for the starting job with another former 5* RB in Greg Stock,, but the addition of transfers Desean Swain and Brian Myers as well as former WR Angel Coker moving to RB left Waller feeling like he was on the outs yet again. Waller will now return home and suit up for the Utes where he is projected to be RB1..

THE SCHEDULE
With the Pac-12 North/South division no longer a thing, the 2033 schedule sees some major changes starting with the fact Boise State will kickoff their Pac-12 schedule in Week 1 hosting Oregon State and will face all 4 California schools this season with trips @ UCLA and Stanford and home games vs Cal and USC.

BSU also for the first time since Coach Spencer Danielson's departure to Washington, Miller and the Broncos will not face their former coach and mentor.

One major change this season is despite Fresno State's departure to the Mountain West, Boise State will still face the Bulldogs in the "Milk Bowl" as BSU will host Fresno State in Week 13 as BSU honors their Seniors during "Senior Night" Here is a full look at the schedule

BSU faces Top-25 preseason opponents this year all on the road making this one of the hardest schedules to date. Boise State has never lost more then 1 game during the regular season and has never lost more then 2 games in a season but this could very well be the first time

With the departure of Gowen and Waller, Boise State has 77 players under scholarship for the 2033 season. of those 77 only 13 players are Seniors, 12 are Juniors, 22 are Sophomores with the remaining 30 a combo of Redshirted and True Freshman.

Of the 77 players 38 are Offensive players, 36 are on Defense and 3 are on Special Teams.

With 8 open scholarships plus the 13 Seniors, BSU will have a 21 scholarships to offer in-season plus whatever opens via the Portal or early entry into the Draft at the end of the year.

BRONCOS RUN AWAY WITH VICTORY

Boise State kicked off their National Title Defense with a 2nd half comeback as the Broncos rush 64 times for 329 yds and 4 scores outscoring the Cowboys (24-2) in the 2nd half

Cowboy fans and the nation got a chance to see plenty of the #2 Desean Swaim who showed glimpses of a another great former #2 RB in Ashton Jeanty in the 1st half as Swaim carried the ball 19 times for 162 yds including a 65 yd touchdown run early in the 2nd Quarter.

Tied (7-7) after the first Quarter, Oklahoma State dominated the 2nd Quarter scoring 4 times as SR QB Oscar Yelito (84) throws touchdowns of (34,71,14,and 8 yds) giving the Cowboys the (35-21) but Boise State would manage to setup Cedric Eagles for a 35 yd FG with 2 seconds to play in the half to make it (35-24)

Oklahoma State opened up the 2nd half scoring with a Team Safety after SR Punter Benji Lutui (83) downs a punt inside the 4 yd line. OT Johnathan Daniels was called for his 3rd holding penalty which resulted in the safety giving Oklahoma State the (37-24) lead but Boise State never gave up.

With Swaim on the the sideline BSU turned to their other transfer RB in SR Brian Meyers.(Arizona State).. Myers would carry the ball 12 times for 54 yds including a 3 yd touchdown as the Broncos make it (37-31) and then after forcing another punt by Lutui, BSU would add on 3 more points as Eagles connects from 35 yds out yet again to make it (37-34) going into the 4th.

Myers would give Boise State the lead for the first time in the game with his 2nd rushing touchdown (1 yd) with 6:25 to play in the game making it (41-37).

Yelito who had 5 touchdowns in the first half continued his struggles in the 2nd half as the SR QB throws a INT to Roland Finley as Boise State takes over with under 3 minutes to play. BSU would extend their lead with a 4 yd TD run by Angel Coker with 1:05 to play.

Oklahoma State would then turn the ball over on downs in the final minute as Finley again comes up with a big play on 4th down knocking down the intended pass to SR WR Jeremy Pence (89) who already had 4 rec for 104 yds and 3 TD on the day.

GOOD/BAD/UGLY

Good-The Boise State Offense.. The ground game is in good hands with the 4-Horseman (Swain/Myers/Coker/Stock as they combine for a huge day, which took alot of pressure of Barskdale. The OSU Stadium ranks #24 in hardest places to play and Barksdale minus the 1 INT played great completing 70% of his passes..

The 2nd Half Defense.. After giving up 5 passing TD's in the first half but Broncos managed to shut down both the passing attack and the ground game in the 2nd half creating a INT turnover and a turnover on downs in the 4th Quarter.

The Bad-BSU finished the game with just 1 sack and only had 5 TFL and as a Defense gave up 35 points in the 1st half including 5 passing touchdowns.

The Ugly- OT Johnathan Daniels (94 Ovr) was called for 3 holding calls, 2 of them cost BSU turnovers on down as both were on 4th and 1 plays and the other cost BSU a Safety. Daniels was benched after the holding call that resulted in the safety with JR OT David Battles taking over.
