We don't want wins
I struggle with him on my own, but the sim makes pretty good use out of him
if I let them win, we have better odds at a top draft pick

I've accepted we're going to lose this season, but that way? fuuuuuuuuck.
It wasn't just the blocked shots, but I definitely underestimated the presence of Lively and AD in the paint on my guys shots lol. George had at least 10-12 layups that were either blocked, or just straight up missed cause of the pressure. He was already ice cold when I tried pulling up for middies so it was over from there.
real talk AR could probably hoop if he could stay healthy

Kessler, Collier Out 4-6 Weeks After Mavs Debacle

Salt Lake City, UT. - The Utah Jazz will be without two of their key starters for the next month, as head coach Will Hardy confirmed Thursday that center Walker Kessler and point guard Isaiah Collier are both expected to miss 4–6 weeks with strained hips.
“It was unfortunate that in the middle of a rough night for us offensively, we lost a pair of impact players as well,” Hardy said following the announcement.
Collier exited early in the first quarter of the Jan. 8 loss to the Mavericks, landing awkwardly after his layup attempt was blocked by Anthony Davis. The Mavericks forward expressed support for the Collier afterward, and Collier later posted on X that there were “no hard feelings.”
Kessler’s injury came later in the same game. The shot blocking big man went up to contest a Cooper Flagg fadeaway in the post, but landed awkwardly and immediately limped to the sideline. He did not return.
With Collier sidelined, Hardy said Keyonte George will step into the starting point guard role, with Walter Clayton Jr. serving as the primary backup. Kevin Love is expected to see extended minutes in Kessler’s absence, giving Utah a veteran presence in the frontcourt as the Jazz navigate yet another stretch of lineup adversity.

Utah Jazz Trade Deadline Preview

Salt Lake City, UT. - With the trade deadline approaching, the central question hanging over the Utah Jazz is simple but franchise-defining: What does Danny Ainge intend to do with Lauri Markkanen? At 11–36, Utah isn’t competing for anything meaningful this season, and the decision on whether to extend or move their 28 year old All Star forward will shape the next several years of the rebuild.
Markkanen remains an elite offensive weapon who fits seamlessly on any playoff contender, but the Jazz are nowhere near contention. With Markkanen making over $45 million per year through the 2029 season, the front office has to determine whether committing max money to a one way star makes sense for a team that may still be two years from relevance. League sources widely expect Ainge to explore the market, with some executives believing he’ll attempt to turn Markkanen into a package of draft capital; mirroring the early stages of Boston’s rebuild. “You can look at it like Ace Bailey is their Jaylen Brown,” one rival exec said. “If Ainge can stack picks now and land his ‘Tatum’ in this draft, this could look a lot like Boston all over again.”
The challenge is identifying who’s willing to act now rather than preserve cap space for the loaded 2026 free-agent class, where Trae Young, Zach LaVine, and Kris Middleton could all hit the market. Some teams, Detroit is frequently mentioned, aren’t realistic destinations for marquee free agents and could decide Markkanen is a safer, controllable star who fits their timeline. The Pistons could theoretically dangle young, cost controlled pieces and multiple picks, banking on Markkanen as a floor raiser and cultural stabilizer.
But the rumor that won’t go away involves a familiar connection: Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics. Ainge’s former coach turned executive has long valued versatile stretch bigs, and multiple league figures believe he sees Markkanen as a more durable version of Kristaps Porziņģis. Boston is playing out a lost season due to injuries, making their 2026 first round pick unexpectedly valuable. A hypothetical deal would likely require Anfernee Simons (for salary purposes), Payton Pritchard, Boston’s own 2026 first round pick, and at least one future first. That type of package would give Utah a jump start on asset accumulation, while Boston could enter next season with a trio of Brown, Tatum, and Markkanen, a group talented enough to vault them right back into the East’s top tier.
If the right Markkanen offer never materializes, Utah could pivot to a softer reset by leveraging their expiring contracts, namely Jusuf Nurkic and Kevin Love. Multiple cap watching teams, including Chicago and Miami who could be eager to create max space for 2026, could view Utah as a pressure release valve: take back a long, undesirable contract now, send the Jazz a future pick, and clean their books ahead of the bidding war to come. Such deals wouldn’t reshape the franchise overnight, but they would add capital while preserving the option of revisiting a Markkanen trade in the summer.
With a week until the deadline, the Jazz sit at a crossroads: move Markkanen while his value is near its peak, flip their expirings for assets, or risk entering the offseason empty-handed and no closer to a coherent long term core.
