Manchester, England — Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Lucas Perri from Lyon for a reported £31 million on a weekly wage of £40,000, adding a long-term solution between the sticks as the club looks to move on André Onana.
Perri, 27, is highly regarded for his composure, shot-stopping ability, and distribution skills. The Brazilian goalkeeper is expected to step straight into first-team contention, bringing stability and reliability to Rúben Amorim’s defence, which has struggled for consistency over the past 18 months.
Onana’s time at the club is all but over, with the Cameroonian reportedly in negotiations with Newcastle and other interested clubs. Perri’s arrival signals that United are ready to close the door on that chapter and invest in a goalkeeper who can grow alongside the team’s defensive core, which recently welcomed Bremer from Juventus.
Amorim welcomed the signing as a key piece in United’s winter reinforcement plan: “Lucas is a talented goalkeeper with excellent reflexes and intelligence. He fits the style we want to play, and we’re excited to integrate him into the squad immediately.”
