Manchester United Make a Splash with £80M Deal for Juventus' Bremer

Bremer is a physical beast of a center back and offers an immediate and significant upgrade to United's CCB options in the 3-4-2-1.

Manchester, England - Manchester United have announced the capture of Bremer from Juventus in a major pre-window deal, the first of three high-profile signings expected this January. The Brazilian centre-back, 27, arrives for a reported £80 million on a contract worth £125,000 per week, immediately boosting Rúben Amorim’s defensive options.

Bremer, widely regarded as one of South America’s premier defenders, will slot straight into the starting lineup as central centre-back (CCB) alongside Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot in Amorim’s preferred three-man backline. Known for his physicality, aerial dominance, and composure on the ball, Bremer brings both leadership and elite-level experience from Serie A to Old Trafford.

“This is a significant signing for Manchester United,” Amorim said in a club statement. “Bremer is a complete defender, strong, intelligent, and confident with the ball. He immediately strengthens our spine and sets a high standard for the team.”

The Brazilian is expected to make his United debut in the opening match following the January window, and the club is already targeting further reinforcements in midfield and goal as part of a strategic South American recruitment drive.

United fans will hope Bremer’s arrival provides the stability the backline has lacked in the first half of the season and marks the start of an ambitious winter overhaul.

South American and on defense. Great job making that splash.

I see what you are saying in the chatbox with struggling against bigger teams and taking care of the smaller one easily.

Yeah really excited about getting Bremer he looks like a monster.

And I can't defend against anyone, but yeah it's a lot easier to win against weaker teams which feels more realistic tbh

Manchester United Get Their Goalkeeper with £31M Deal for Lyon's Lucas Perri

Perri (27) stands 6'6 and is known for his incredible long throws and being a physical presence in goal, two areas that Onana and Bayindir have both struggled.

Manchester, England — Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Lucas Perri from Lyon for a reported £31 million on a weekly wage of £40,000, adding a long-term solution between the sticks as the club looks to move on André Onana.

Perri, 27, is highly regarded for his composure, shot-stopping ability, and distribution skills. The Brazilian goalkeeper is expected to step straight into first-team contention, bringing stability and reliability to Rúben Amorim’s defence, which has struggled for consistency over the past 18 months.

Onana’s time at the club is all but over, with the Cameroonian reportedly in negotiations with Newcastle and other interested clubs. Perri’s arrival signals that United are ready to close the door on that chapter and invest in a goalkeeper who can grow alongside the team’s defensive core, which recently welcomed Bremer from Juventus.

Amorim welcomed the signing as a key piece in United’s winter reinforcement plan: “Lucas is a talented goalkeeper with excellent reflexes and intelligence. He fits the style we want to play, and we’re excited to integrate him into the squad immediately.”

United’s defensive overhaul continues to take shape, with January signings aimed at solidifying the spine and laying the foundations for both domestic and European success.

United fans will hope Bremer’s arrival provides the stability the backline has lacked in the first half of the season and marks the start of an ambitious winter overhaul.

Forest Danilo Joins United for £11.6M to Shore Up Defensive Midfield

Danilo (23) provides another option as a left-footed defensive midfielder that United have been lacking.

Manchester, England — Manchester United have finalized their transformative January 2025 transfer window with the signing of Danilo from Nottingham Forest, securing the 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder as the third and final addition of a South American–focused recruitment push. Danilo joins for a fee that reinforces United’s commitment to reshaping their squad under Rúben Amorim, and he will take the No. 15 shirt.

The move comes as Amorim cements a dramatic tactical shift prompted by the chaotic 6–3 defeat to Liverpool, a match in which United found themselves 5–0 down at halftime. Forced into experimentation, Amorim deployed a 3-5-2 setup in the second half, and despite the lopsided scoreline, the structure offered surprising solidity and clearer patterns of play. Crucially, it was during this half that Luke Shaw was tested as a left defensive midfielder, a gamble that paid off as the England international showed natural instincts in the role. Shaw is now the full-time starter at LDM and will wear the No. 5 shirt, with Danilo brought in to provide depth, competition, and rotational quality.

Amorim praised Danilo’s tactical intelligence, athletic range, and ability to protect the back line — attributes that align seamlessly with the new system and with United’s broader push to expand their ties in South America.

“Danilo brings balance and discipline,” Amorim said. “He understands our structure and will strengthen what we are building.”

Danilo joins compatriots Bremer and Lucas Perri, completing a window that marks a clear evolution in Manchester United’s identity, ambition, and global reach.
