BRONCOS STAY PEREFECT!!!

GAME RECAP

Boise State jumped out to a early (17-3) lead in the 1st Quarter but Utah battled back in the 2nd Quarter as JR QB George Wear (79 ovr) throws a pair of touchdowns including a 35 yd bomb to FR Adrian Cantu (75 Ovr) on the final drive of the half to make it (31-17) going into the break.

Nate "The Great" Exum was solid in his 2nd start as he throws 3 touchdowns including 2 of them to Enrique Chance for his 9th and 10th of the season. and showed off his running skills as he caps a 12 play drive with a 4 yd touchdown run .

Looking to slow things down Coach Miller served up the Utes with a healthy dose of Desean Swaim and UNC transfer delivered with the help of the Bronco Defense. Swaim opened up the 2nd half with a pair of 20+ yard runs including a 24 yd touchdown to open up the the scoring. Then it was Roland Finely coming up with a INT off Wear to set up Swaim for touchdown #2. But the the combination wasn't done as JR CB Marquise Darnold comes up with INT #2 leading to Swaim's 3rd rushing touchdown of the Quarter as BSU jumps out to a commanding (52-17) lead going into the 4th.

With the Offense and Defense both rolling, it was time to get the Special teams involved and Angel Coker delivered as he returns a Utah Punt 67 yds to the house for a Special teams touchdown making it (59-17) midway through the 4th and then 2 minutes later after Wear throws his 3rd INT of the game (FS Maka Moreau) Coker takes the handoff and goes up the middle on a HB draw untouched for the 6 yd score.

Wear would finish the game 22/46 (47%) for 291 yds with the 2 TD and 3 INT.

Utah managed just 331 yds of Total Offense including just 40 yds rushing on 18 carries.

WEEK 6 TEAM REPORT

NATE THE GREAT
When Boise State signed UAB transfer Nathan Exum most assumed Boise State was just looking for a QB who had some game time experience to backup 5* Recruits Tobias Barksdale and Ezra Neighbors. However with Barksdale going down early in Week 1 and Neighbors struggling with turnovers (5 INT/1 Fumble) Exum or better know as "Nate the Great" has instead shown he is the real deal, throwing for 1092 yds with 12 TD and 0 INT.

Coach Miller
"Anyone who watched UAB play last season knows Nate and sling the pigskin, but UAB plays in the Sunbelt and lets me honest outside of those living in Birmingham, I don't think to many people are tuning in on Saturdays to watch Blaze the Dragon"
With Tobias Barksdale set to return in Week 7, Bronco fans however are left wondering if making the switch is the right call and I am one to agree..

CRUM WHO

When Desean Swaim stepped on campus and asked for the #2 jersey which was available with the graduation of Kyle Harmon, Coach Miller knew that Swaim was the man who could do it justice. And so far through 6 games Swaim has done more then justify the # he is making a case to join the many other Boise Hall of Fame members who have wore the #2. Swaim has 147 carries for 750 yds and 12 TD's with 6+ runs over 20 yds

SWISS ARMY
When Angel Coker was being scouted out of high school, scouts gave him the title of a gadget player. Meaning he could hurt you in many different ways. After redshirting in 2031, Coker saw action in just 5 games in 2032 logging 2 rec for 27 yds.

However this year after making the move from WR to RB Coker has found a role in the offense taking the place of Jermacus Boykins and he has shiined.

Coker is 2nd on the team in rushing with 58 carries for 340 yds and 5 TD, He is 3rd on the team in receptions with 28 for 192 yds and 1 TD and has posted a 23.5 avg for 215 yds on 9 KR as well as a 12.9 avg for 259 yds and 1 TD on 20 PR's.

JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE
Former 5* WR Enrique Chance was unhappy after being recruited in 2032 as one of the top pass catchers in the nation as he played in just 2 games posting 5 rec for 88 yds and 1 TD.

Chance originally was considering joining the portal as the Boise State WR room added more talent in Wisconsin transfer F. Donahue and had several 4* recruits coming off redshirt seasons as well (Brazill, Bromell) but Miller convinced Chance to give the him a 2nd Chance and prove he had big plans him in the offense.

So far that plan and decision has paid off,, as Chance leads the Broncos with 45 rec for 508 yds and 10 TD (all team high's)

NO FLY ZONE
Just 3 years ago, Boise State finished the season with just 12 INT's as a team., as Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander experimented with the idea of switching to a 3-3-5 Defense and even a 4-3 Defense. Many fans were calling for Miller to make a change but Miller stuck with his DC but did encourage the switch back to the 4-2-5 and the move was perfect..

Last season BSU led the Pac-12 in Sacks as 4 players finished with over 10 sacks each on the season and now this year, BSU leads the nation in INT's going into Week 6 with 16

Former 5* Roland Finley leads the team with 4 well fellow former 5* Barry Stack and Iowa transfer Quincy Forrest each have 3.

it's tempting but no, he will get his starting job back but he will have a short leash.. He was solid against Oklahoma State in Week 0, but didn't play great against the Beavers before getting hurt. He has 3 TD and 3 INT in 7 Quarters of action.. Luckily I have Cal as a warmup game before having to play Oregon on the road.

I actually am/was a Pats Fan because of Drew.. He played his high school football about 1 1/2 hr from where I live and played as Washington State where I had seasons tickets for 2 years.

WEEK 6 AROUND THE NATION UPDATE

#4 (6-0) Boise State
#5 (5.1) Miami
#6 (5-1) Ohio State
#7 (4-2) Clemson
#8 (6-0) Penn State
#9 (5-1) Notre Dame
#10 (5-1) Pitt
#11 (5-1) Arizona State
#12 (5-1) Alabama
#13 ((5-1) Michigan
#14 (5-1) Auburn
#15 (5-0) TCU
#16 (6-1) Louisville

#18 (3-2) Nebraska
#19 (5-0) FAU
#20 (4-1) Texas A&M
#21 (5-1) Houston
#22 (4-2) UCLA
#23 (5-1) Florida State
#24 (5-1) Virginia Tech
#25 (4-2) Oregon

Week 7 Key Games
#1 Oklahoma vs #21 Houston
#7 Clemson vs #8 Penn State
#23 Florida State vs #24 Virginia Tech

PAC-12 STANDING
#6 Boise State (6-0)/(4-0)
#11 Arizona State (5-1)/(3-1)
Cal (4-2)/(3-1)
BYU (3-3)/(3-1)
Stanford (4-2)/(2-2)
#22 UCLA (4-2)/(2-2)
#25 Oregon (4-2)/(2-2)
Washington (3-3)/(2-2)
Washington State (3-2)/(2-2)
Arizona (2-4)/(2-2)
Oregon State (3-3)/(2-3)
USC (2-3)/(1-3)
Colorado (2-4)/(0-4)
Utah (1-4)/ (0-3)

The biggest thing that jumps out to me here is so many teams already with 2 loss's in Pac-12 play including Stanford,, UCLA, Oregon and the fact USC is already 1-3.. USC lost to BYU and Arizona both games they were favorites to win and now face #9 Notre Dame in a non-conference matchup leaving them with the possibility of a 4th loss to before Week 8. Not exactly a great start to his coaching career for Kalani Sitake who was doing really well at Oklahoma State.

Also Oregon barely hanging onto a Top-25 spot makes our Week 8 matchup with the Ducks not as high profile as it was in the Pre-Season.

HEISMAN WATCH

Despite Desean Swaim's success 750 yds and 12 TD) . the Redshirt Sophomore RB is still not among the Top-5 vote getters going into Week 7.

Oklahoma SO QB Wayne Caesar (1553 yds 18 TD 1 INT passing, 331 yds 7 TD rushing) currently holds the top spot
Georgia SR WR Deion Chaney (60 rec 870 yds 10 TD) is #2
Georgia JR QB Enrique Durham (2332 yds 26 TD 1 INT passing, 105 yds 1 TD rushing) is #3
TCU SR QB John Goedeke (1588 yds 15 TD 1 INT passing, 441 yds 10 TD rushing) is #4
Tennessee JR QB Jeff Toone (2001 yds 24 TD 1 INT passing, 233 yds 3 TD rushing) is #5

BRONCOS SMASHING SEASON HIGH!!

GAME RECAP

Despite having Former Boise State QB/OC/HC Bryan Harsin still on staff at Cal the Bears Defense had no answer to slow down the Boise State Bronco Offense.

Boise State jumped out to a a early (21-7) lead as Tobais Barksdale fresh off his Week 1 injury would throw a trio of touchdowns including 2 to Enrique Chance who continues to provide whoever is throwing the ball a huge redzone target.

Barksdale's day wasn't perfect as he did throw (2) 2nd Quarter INT's leaving it (28-10) at the half but the Redshirt Freshman would bounce back in the 2nd half with another pair of touchdowns he finishes the day with over 500 yds passing on 39/56 (69%).

When Barksdale wasn't light up the scoreboard and the Bears secondary, the Broncos were running and running non stop as BSU finishes the game with a season high 51 First Downs 844 Yard of Total Offense including a season high 325 yds on the ground on 67 carries. (4.9 avg).

Desean Swaim led the way with 31 carries for 167 yds (5.4 avg) and 2 scores to add to the Broncos commanding lead. well Brian Myers finished just shy of his 2nd 100 yd day with 18 caries for 95 yds.

RB/WR Angel Coker continues to be a spark plug in whatever role he is placed in as he carries the ball 15 times for 65 yds and 1 TD well also adding 9 rec for 94 yds and 1 TD.

ROAD WARRIORS!!!

GAME RECAP

Oregon opened up the game receiving the ball but a quick 3 and out gave Boise State the chance to strike first and they did as Barksdale leads a 8 play 62 yd drive ending with a 2 yd touchdown pass to Enrique Chance to make it (7-0). Freshman QB Justice Agude (72 ovr) would then throw a INT to open up the 2nd series for the Ducks, but Barksdale would give it right back with a INT of his own and finally with 1:02 to play in the 1st Oregon ties the game (7-7) as Augude finds Ezekiel Hailassie on a 12 yd score.

BSU however would answer right back as Barksdale goes deep finding Taj Carr on a 56 yd bomb to give BSU the (14-7) lead as we head to the 2nd Quarter. The 2nd Quarter would feature 3 INT's thrown as Agude opens up the 2nd Quarter throwing his 2nd leading a a Angel Coker 4 yd touchdown run as BSU extends their lead to (21-7) But Tobias Barksdale would follow suit with his 2nd and 3rd INT's of the game and with 1:42 to play in the half Agude would find Hailassie again for a 16 yd score to cut the lead to (21-14).

Despite 3 INT's on the day, Coach Miller continued to trust his QB and Tobias would answer the call as he leads BSU on a 5 play drive ending with a 7 yd TD pass to TE Larry Ika to give BSU the (28-14) lead at the half.

BSU opened up the 2nd half with the ball and would put together a nice 14 play 80 yd drive ending with a 12 yd touchdown by backup RB Brian Myers as BSU extends their lead (35-14).

BSU would fail to add any more points in the 3rd Quarter though as Cedric Eagles would miss on a pair of 58 yard FG's leaving it (35-14) as we head to the 4th.

Oregon opened up the 4th Quarter scoring as Agude throws a 44 yd touchdown to JR WR N. Meadows (85 Ovr) to cut the lead to (35-21).. Boise State however responds with a trio of scores to close out the game,, as Barksdale and Chance hookup for the "Hat Trick". Barksdale would hit Chance first with a 25 yd score with 5:26 to play. Then after Agude throwing his 3rd INT of the game, BSU would extend their lead with a Desean Swaim 10 yd touchdown run with 3:41 to play. A turnover on downs would give BSU the ball back and facing a 4th and 2 BSU would go for it as Barksdale finds Chance yet again for the 2 yd score with less then a minute to play.

Oregon would turn the ball over on downs on their final series. On the day Oregon was 10/21 (47%) on 3rd Downs but finished just 1/5 on 4th Downs to go long with their 3 INT.

Boise State also with 3 INT however were a perfect 4/4 on 4th down when it matteed most.

love some charred duck. Defense did its thing to pick up Barksdale after the 3 INT, but he's got to get in form soon. 3 INT isn't going to win any playoff games
