‣ CFB 2025 Regular Season, Week 2 - Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
(0-1, 0-0 AAC) South Florida Bulls at #4 Miami Hurricanes (1-0, 1-0 ACC)

USF | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0
MIA | 7 | 10 | 2 | 7 | 26

Miami's defense pitches first shutout against FBS opponent since 2001 in 26-0 win over Bulls
Miami fans might have been spoiled after their offense scored five touchdowns and the team put fifty-five points over a ranked Syracuse squad that had just beaten Notre Dame the week before.

Miami's offense was stagnant at times on Saturday, turning the ball over three times and only reaching the endzone once on three redzone trips, including the rare redzone turnover that turned into points for the offense. Miami's defense, however, was as spectacular as ever, holding USF to 1.4 yards per rush and sacking Byrum Brown nine times in the school's first shutout since 2001 in the 26-0 victory over the South Florida Bulls.

In his second game against the Hurricanes in as many years, Brown was ravaged by Miami's defensive line who had eight different players record a sack with Rueben Bain Jr. and Marquise Lightfoot both having multiple sacks. Brown was also intercepted by Robert Stafford in the endzone and Jaden Harris. USF came close to scoring on two field goal attempts from within the 30-yard line but freshman kicker Nico Gramatica -- yes, that Gramatica -- missed both of them.

Offensively, it was a day to forget for Miami's offensive line as Nicholas Vattiato was pressured nine times on his 34 pass attempts, throwing two interceptions including a goal-line one where the intercepting player was tackled in the endzone, after initially stepping out, which resulted in a safety.

Miami's running game eventually came online with Mark Fletcher Jr. rushing for 98 yards despite several holding penalties that negated big runs. Jeremiah Smith continued to impress with six receptions for 143 yards, scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter for his first touchdown as a Hurricane.

This roster is beginning to look the part. If we keep striking it right with the quarterbacks and eventually develop one, I think we can take that next step from ACC contenders to national champs
