Patriots acquire Houston receiver Stefon Diggs in blockbuster trade with Texans
Former All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs is heading back to the AFC East following a blockbuster trade between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans with the Patriots sending receiver Demario Douglas, safety Marte Mapu, a second and a third round pick in next year's draft for Diggs.

Diggs, 32, previously played for the Buffalo Bills and has caught 61 catches for 779 yards and scored 8 touchdowns in 10 games against the Patriots in his career. He has spent the past three years with the Texans where he was averaging 64.8 yards per game this season, his highest clip since joining the Texans in 2026.

While the veteran receiver has yet to eclipse 1,000-yards during his tenure with the Texans, Diggs remains one of the more respected receivers in the league after having six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Bills and the Minnesota Vikings, who drafted him in the fifth round back in 2015. With his addition, New England has one of the better receiver duos in Diggs and Christian Watson, who are both top twenty in the NFL in receiving yards.

Douglas is on the final year of his rookie deal after averaging three consecutive seasons with at least 500 receiving yards as a sixth round pick. Mapu, a third round pick in the same draft, had seen his role dwindle this season with the drafting of Peyton Bowen and Kamari Ramsey, averaging just 13 snaps per game this season and appearing in just three of New England's five games. By comparison, Mapu played in all seventeen games last year, averaging fifty snaps per game.
