Hopefully you can move into second place after the final race
it will be tough as Queen and Sawalich are always right near the front

ARCA MENARDS SERIES RACE RECAP: Phoenix ARCA 150 – Phoenix Raceway
McQueen wins record-tying tenth race; Sawalich claims championship with second-place finish

Logan “Lightning” McQueen III closed his rookie ARCA Menards Series campaign in storybook fashion, and in the process, joined elite company.

After qualifying ninth, McQueen methodically worked his way forward throughout the Phoenix ARCA 150, showcasing the same composure and late-race pace that carried him through his breakout season. By the closing laps, the No. 33 Peak Motorsports Chevrolet had reeled in both championship contenders ahead of him.

When the checkered flag waved, McQueen scored his tenth victory of the year, tying the ARCA record for the most wins in a rookie season, matching Jesse Love’s 2023 mark and William Sawalich’s 2024 total.

Sawalich finished second to lock up the ARCA Menards Series championship with 805 points, while Brenden Queen came home third and narrowly held onto second in the standings, just one point ahead of McQueen (766 to 767).

“Honestly, this one means a lot,” McQueen said on pit road. “We’ve had such a year. We had the highest of highs, some pretty low lows, everything in between. This team busted their ass every week. To close it out with a win and tie the record, that’s special. I’m proud of our little team. Everyone back at the shop worked their hearts out, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.”

Rumors in the garage suggest that McQueen and Peak Motorsports have secured a sponsor deal that could see the operation expand into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series next season. Sources have also indicated a new headquarters location is being finalized for the up-and-coming Tennessee-based program.

They Said It
Darren Holt – Team Owner, Peak Motorsports
“This whole season has been an incredible ride. Logan has brought so much energy and focus to this team, every week, he made us better. To end our first full ARCA campaign with ten wins and a top-three points finish is beyond what we dreamed when we started this deal in our little shop outside Bristol. I can’t thank our crew and partners enough. What we’ve built this year has changed our program for the better, and we’ve got some big news coming soon that’ll take Peak Motorsports to the next level.”

Need that difficulty jump.

Does the AI have a difficulty rating? What do you have it set to?

The Dale Jr. Download
(Theme music fades. Studio chatter fades out as the show begins.)

DALE EARNHARDT JR.:
All right y’all, welcome back to The Dale Jr. Download. We’ve got a special guest today, the kid they’re callin’ “Lightning.” Ten wins this year in the ARCA Menards Series, one of the best rookie seasons we’ve ever seen, Logan McQueen, welcome to the show, man.

LOGAN MCQUEEN:
Thanks, Dale. It’s good to be here, man. I’ve listened to this show for years, so it’s pretty wild sittin’ across from you.

DALE:
You had yourself a season, brother. Ten wins, Rookie of the Year, third in points, that’s a heck of a stat line. How’s it feel now that it’s all over?

MCQUEEN:
It still feels a little unreal, to be honest. I mean, we came into this year just hopin’ to finish races, right? We didn’t have much of a budget early on, and at Daytona we were nowhere near competitive. We just didn’t have the car or the resources to keep up with those big teams. And then that first Phoenix race? Man, that one stung. We left there frustrated, wondering if we could really hang with the big dogs.

DALE:
Yeah, I remember watchin’ that one. Y’all looked like you had speed, just not the track position.

MCQUEEN:
Exactly. But then Bristol came along, race three, and that’s where it clicked. We finished third, and it felt like everything slowed down, in a good way. That was a track all of us knew, me, Alex Ward my crew chief, Darren Holt our owner, we’ve all raced or worked around Bristol forever. We unloaded fast, executed well, and that’s when we thought, “Okay, maybe we can really do this.” After that, we got things dialed in and rattled off three straight wins. That’s when it got real fun.

DALE:
You guys had a heck of a mid-season stretch too. But not all smooth sailin’, right? I know North Wilkesboro gave y’all some trouble.

MCQUEEN:
Yeah, Wilkesboro humbled us, man. That was a grind. We fought balance all weekend. Finished way off what we wanted. But the cool thing was how we responded, went to Charlotte next and finished third again. That was a turning point in attitude more than anything. We learned we could bounce back.

DALE:
Then came Lime Rock… which I heard wasn’t your favorite weekend.

MCQUEEN:
(laughs) No, sir, it was not. Lime Rock was rough. I’ll take the blame on that one, I just didn’t have it. Missed my marks, burned up the tires, got behind early and never recovered. That’s one of those races that still eats at you a little. But the team, man, they didn’t hang their heads. They lifted me up. That’s what makes Peak Motorsports special. We regrouped, put our heads down, and went on another tear after that.

DALE:
Yeah, I mean y’all were nearly unbeatable those last few months. Four wins in the final five races, that’s a statement.

MCQUEEN:
Yeah, that’s what I’m most proud of. The way we finished. We knew William [Sawalich] had a huge points lead, he was lights-out all year, and even though we were winning, it was too much to overcome. But we weren’t quittin’. We just wanted to show we could go toe-to-toe with the best.

DALE:
And man, y’all did. Came within a point of Brenden Queen for second in the standings. That’s gotta sting a little, huh?

MCQUEEN:
Yeah, it does. One point. That’s one or two spots on the track across nineteen races. You think back to some of those tough days, Lime Rock, or maybe when we ran out of fuel at Martinsville, and you realize how small the margin is. But that’s racin’. It motivates me, honestly. We finished strong, and we learned a ton.

DALE:
Well, you’ve got the Rookie of the Year trophy to show for it, that’s somethin’ nobody can take away.

MCQUEEN:
Yeah, that means a lot. For our whole group, man. We’re a small team from Tennessee workin’ out of an old machine shop. We don’t have the biggest haulers or the fanciest equipment, but we’ve got heart. Ten wins… that’s all them. Alex Ward, my crew chief, Darren Holt, the guys in the shop, they built this season. I just got to be the one holdin’ the wheel.

DALE:
Love that attitude, man. So what’s next for Logan McQueen and Peak Motorsports? You got some big news brewin’?

MCQUEEN:
(smiling) Yeah, we’ve been workin’ on somethin’ special. I’m really excited to finally say it here, Peak Motorsports is movin’ up. We’ve signed a deal with SKF to run a full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series next year. Same team, same attitude, just a new challenge.

DALE:
Oh man, that’s awesome! Congrats! Full-time in Trucks, that’s a big step.

MCQUEEN:
Yeah, thank you. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re not done yet. This season was just the start.

DALE:
Well, I can’t wait to see what y’all do next. You’ve got talent, you’ve got drive, and now you’ve got a truck ride, that’s a dangerous combo. Logan McQueen, everybody, Rookie of the Year, ten-time winner, and movin’ on up. Thanks for comin’ by, man.

MCQUEEN:
Appreciate it, Dale. Thanks for havin’ me.

Not enough shit talking by Dale, not enough stories, no questions about "innovation" when you were in the lower tiers of racing.

Inauthentic interview.

For real, good update and looking forward to next season.
